No results on Posada's doctor visit yet. Matsui will begin trying baseball-related activities on Monday. He's expected to try to hit off a tee.
Update 6:10: A Yankees spokesman said Posada did see Dr. David Altcheck, but no one from the Yankees has spoke directly to the physician so there is no word on the results and recommendation, and we likely won't have an update tonght. Seems a bit weird (and probably naive) to think no one has contacted Altcheck to get the results. We won't get anything from Posada. He is not here today as GM Brian Cashman told him to stay at home.

The Houston Astros just traded for Randy Wolf. The price was 26-year old AAA pitcher Chad Reineke. Reineke was 5-9 in AAA with an ERA of 4.41.
This is good news for the Yankees. Means Buster Olney might be spot on when he says that the asking price for Jarrod Washburn might be nothing more than Kei Igawa and a minor league middle reliever.
Jarod Washburn would be a good pickup except for one year with the LAA. He had winning records and decent ERA. Now,with Seattle his record has been poor. On appearance of his record, he may pitch well enough with a better hitting club(gulp) like the Yankees and win a few games. His price should not be high.
As far as Posada and Matsui, I definitely believe Posada should have the operation with a nice long recuperation. Matsui is starting his rebound with hitting off the tee. This can't be good. We'll more than likely will loss both for the season.
This is the story that follows teams who are heavily depended on veteran players in the age bracket of 34+. These injuries will force the Yankees to make moves over the winter in anticipation of poor rehabs of these players. Hopefully, they will shy away from veterans again.
