Sorry for the lack of posts today, but I had some unforeseen things to deal with. The Grand Hyatt was a madhouse today for media availability, as expected.
Three of the busier players in the ballroom, also as expected, were Alex Rodriguez, Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera. The three Yankees will be representing their teams on their home turf today and particularly tomorrow, and they were all in high demand. They seem quite excited about the All-Star Game being at Yankee Stadium.

Kat, we're dying here. You've been slacking, we can tell. Tsk Tsk. ;)
Maybe someone can answer this. Why is no one talking about Brandon Webb? He's shut off contract talks with the D-Backs and will be a FA in the off-season. He gives up a ton of hits, but he tosses a million innings, is always pretty close to 200 k's, hovers just above a 3 ERA, and throws very few BB's and dingers. Is he a known West Coast guy or something?
The D-Backs are in the race, so they won't want to part with him in-season, but I haven't seen his name mentioned in any discussions about possible off-season acquisitions. We hear about CC all the time. Harden will be on the market, if the Cubbies don't sign him before the end of the season. Sheets will be available. Webb will help to open it up.
Just thought I'd ask.
The Cubs have a $7M club option on Harden for 2009 - which they will certainly pick up after making that trade for him.
Right, Vipe. Thanks.
Any comments on Webb?
Thanks, Vipe.
What am I missing on Webb?
DC hits a grounds rule double.
On a check swing, with his eyes closed, stepping in the bucket. And no one watching.
DC Yank,
Webb is not a FA after this season. He's signed through 2009 and the D-backs have a $8.5M club option for 2010.
That could be why people aren't talking about him as an option.
Oops. Got some bad info. Thanks, Vipe.
More likely, read some good info and got confused. Just to be accurate.
For those "REAL" Yankees fans, and baseball fans in general,..This is the All Star Game, not some Yankees party, as some refer to it. Sully and his 'Cohorts" think ALL baseball revolves around this team, forgetting there are 29 other teams and Cities in the sport. Greed Kills. Papelbon is the Best closer in baseball, Mariano had his day. Boston is the Champs, Boston is the Champs Boston Is the Champs. If there a Party, its Theirs.
