Kennedy pitching well

Ian Kennedy is pitching very well in his minor league debut for the season. Through five innings for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, he has allowed one baserunner. Kennedy hit Charlotte batter Fernando Cortez in the third inning, but has otherwise been perfect.

Kennedy pitched quite well tonight leaving the game in the 8th after 90 pitches (58 strikes). Early in the game he was pretty much throwing fastball, fastball, fastball with the blue moon curve, but as the game went on and he faced the line up a second time, he started to mix in the rest of his off speed pitches. He struck out Charlotte's 4 and 5 hitters 3 and 2 times respectively. Overall, a solid outing and something to smile about.

Kennedy on Kennedy:

“I’m trying to say it humbly, but it doesn’t matter what I say, it’s going to come out cocky,” he said. “You just know. I woke up today and told my wife, I just have a feeling I’m going to make these guys look stupid.”

Better yet, why don't you check out Chad Jennings' blog write up, it's a good one.

Joba sucks! This kid id to young and doesn't have good enough stuff to be pitching in the 8th inning. Farnswoth looks like he is finally pitching to his potential. Let him pitch the 8th!

We should entitle this little soap opera "What about Ian".

"But Doc I'm doing the work,I'm taking the steps".

Why didn't he make major league hitters look stupid?

Anyway he''ll be back after his next start.

Chamberworth could these 2 be morphing into each other?

So Molina calls for a fastball 3 times and Joba shakes him off 3 times???

You don't let a scrub like Dellucci beat you.

That's for sure. You can't let a less than average player like Dellucci beat you. Joba go back to the minors. In the big leagues you throw what the catcher asks for. Learn it, live it, love it! Or you will end up where that big mouth Kennedy is!

Once again Veras looked sharp. He could easily step into Bruney's role now that he's got his normal velocity back. After having a cup of gravel removed from his elbow he's showing what NY had hoped for in signing him.

Bill Selby.

Do you folks remember him? He hit a walk off home run off Mariano a few years ago and everybody freaked out because a scrub beat the great Mariano.
The guy who is calling for Joba to go back to the minors is a nut who is just trying to elicit a bunch of nonsense on the blog today. Sometimes bad hitters run into a bad pitch and they get lucky, it happens. The timing sucked but when will there be a good time for Joba to give up runs? Heck, maybe Molina got mad at him for shaking him off so much and told Dellucci what was coming, ala 'Bull Durham'.

Let's see how Joba reacts to this, maybe he will re-focus and use it as motivation. He just didn't have it last night...it happens.

Kennedy: Someone needs to teach this kid how to talk about a game without coming off as cocky. Maybe he could have said "I woke up this morning and told my wife that I felt like I was going to have great stuff today and I'm going to pitch a great game". For a guy who couldn't get the ball over the plate in the majors to come off as so cocky in the minors is a little disturbing. It almost makes me want to see him take a butt whipping in the minors.....nah, we need him too badly.

Jim the Annon charactor is acting.

Honestly I'm glad it happened now if it was to happen at all it just gives Joba a new weapon of defense in his mind pattern , I knew something was up and I knew Jose was miffed due to Joba not wanting to comply with his pitch selection .

Delluci is not a scrub but rather a good player for the situation he deals with - role player, I wanted him here to come off the bench

Joba didn't trust his fastball - he had no comand of it - that's why he shook Molina off.

I believe Marco Scutaro also hit a GW 3 run HR off of Mariano last year in Oakland, when the Yanks were going really poorly.

It happens. Bucky Dent, right???

The Chief giving up the 3 run dinger to Delucci was bound to happen sometime. That doesn't bother me. He shouldn't have shaken Molina off though.

What bothered me was the bases loaded situation that the Yanks had in the 1st and they got one stinkin' run out of it.

And, they were lucky to get that run. The Tribe almost had a DP in the inning and the Yanks would have gotten zilch.

Bases loaded - Giambi up - weak grounder to first - the only reason a run scored was that he didn't hit it harder.

Ok he hit a double later bringing his average up to .154? When do we give up on this guy?

What can I say about Giambi? He's as "clutch" as they come.

John G.

LOL

Maybe Giambi needs to ask the Yanks to open up an In & Out Burger in the Stadium. He said that he loves that place.

Info Alert: For anyone that doesn't know, In & Out is a burger franchise place that started in California back in 1947 and now has franchises in AZ.

Why was part of me happy Joba gave up that HR? I mean I dont ever like to see the Yanks lose a game, but Joba is still young, really young, and like Coney said last night, these things need to happen for growth. At least when Joba goes to the rotation, people wont cry about us not being able to win a game unless he pitches the 8th.

BTW - Delucci is a great fastball hitter, nothing to do but tip your cap, it happens.

That IPK comment got me a little hot under the collar. Was this all too much too soon for this trio? Does a vet need to grab them by their ears and sit them in the corner? These rookes need to shut up and just throw the damn ball!
