Jeter in the lineup
Derek Jeter is in the lineup today after being hit by a pitch -- and leaving the game -- last night. Here's what he had to say. Hint, it's pretty much what you would expect from him.
"I'm fine."
(Any pain?)"Man, I'm fine."
(how likely would you be to admit if you were in utter agony?)"I'm good, everything's good."
(any more tests planned?)"Absolutely nothing. Ice and a (team) picture and I'm going to play."
(did you think it was broken?)"No ... I figured I would play anyway if it was broke."
Lineup
Johnny Damon LF
Derek Jeter SS
Bobby Abreu RF
Alex Rodriguez 3B
Hideki Matsui DH
Shelley Duncan 1B
Robinson Cano 2B

Show em how its done Cap! There's one fighter, who else is gonna show some b@lls? Time for this team to come together.
i often wonder how jeter doesn't get frustrated playing with some guys who obviously aren't committed to winning as he is.
e.g slo-mo abreu, no effort cano, already retired damon etc.
jeter leads by example, as has been well documented, and not vocally. however, he needs people who actually follow. it was easier when the critical mass of the team consisted of oneil, tino, cone, brosius, girardi and so on.
the make up of this collection assembled by the worst GM in baseball is unable to maintain the level of professionalism and dedication we expect.
time to retool

Jeter reminds me of the Black Knight in Monty Python and the Holy Grail - "it's nothing but a scratch".
