Some tinkering with the lineup from Joe Girardi, but not much. Jose Molina starts at catcher while Jorge Posada sits. Girardi hasn't met with the media as yet when he'll probably be asked about that, Joba's availability after pitching two innings yesterday and Jason Giambi's condition. The lineup:
Damon LF
Jeter SS
Abreu RF
Rodriguez 3B
Matsui DH
Cano 2B
Betemit 1B
Cabrera CF
Molina C
It's Mike Mussina (0-1, 4.76 ERA) against Jason Hammel (3-5, 6.14 in 2007) of the Rays. More to come...

Kat,
I thought the plan going in was to have Molina catch for Mussina? I seem to remember them doing that a lot last season too.
Looks like a decent match up for Moose. Lets see if hes got what it takes to pull out a win.
Few things....
Molina has been great in filling in for Posada. Having him insures Posada does not have to be used when he really needs to sit.
Giambi, Betemit, Duncan have all looked horrible at the plate. One of these guys needs to step it up and start hitting. A regular spot at 1st and in the lineup is there for the taking.
Chip is right. Molina is going to be Moose's regular catcher this season.
It was talked about during ST.
another good day in yankee player greetings. today was dress sharp day as they board for planes after the game
Giambi /Girardi - Hands down the best of the Bunch!! will come and talk to you.
Damon - looking sharp in his porcshe.
Hughes and Duncan - was leaving early for KC spoke to them a min while they waited for their cab.
as for the rays - BJ Upton would have never noticed him as he was dress to the times and skinny and somewhat tall,
Cliff Floyd - Pulled me to the side and thanked me for my concern - He has a obvious limp.
Helped Mo and His wife .
Jeter and Jorge was dressed to the times.
Joba arrived from the blind side cool as usual
Melky and Robbie arrived in pairs as usual

Mac,
Looks like Joe G and you are on diffeent pages about Duncans playing time. If Giambi is out for any length of time and Duncans role stays unchanged I think that says what they think of him longterm. Although Betemit isn't exactly makking a case for himself either. I would have thought Ensberg would be getting a shot with Giambi in question. Its still early though and things can always change.
Bomber,
You need to wear cleats and spike B.J. Upton....that dude kills the Yanks!
Good stuff Bomber, keep it coming.
I think the next time the Yanks see a LHP on the mound, Ensberg will start at 1st.
I really like Wilson's glove at 1st, hopefully he can put a couple hits on the board.
What I want from Moose tonight….
1st pitch strikes
LOCATION - LOCATION - LOCATION
bite on his breaking ball
some swings and misses with his offspeed stuff
keep the ball down in the zone
have a 2-1 GB/FB ratio
6 in…2BB….4K & keep the Yanks in the game ( 2-4 Runs )
Since Moose is starting Saturday against the Sox, I think he needs to show something tonight. I know it’s VERY early in the season, but this is kind of a big start for Mike. He needs to build up momentum and confidence going into Fenway and beyond.
LETS GO MMMMOOOOOOOOSSSSSEEEEE!!!!!
Good stuff, Bomber. Listen to Jim A about the "spikes" thing.
You gotta have at least one more in ya, Moose!
Lets Go Yankees! Our bats gotta wake up sooner or later!
Bronx Bomber: I third the appreciation for your notes about gretting the Yankee players.
How's the weather in the Bronx for the game tonight.
Giradi has definetly taken some pages from Torre's book on managing but its his team. As I remarked a couple days ago, he'll bunt to win games especially late in the game or when two competitive pitchers are going at it.
If I had my perference, I'd dump the Giambi experiment for Wilson Betemint. Betemint is a very good player but has not be given opts. to play regular. He's smooth and will hit from the Right side. Ensberg can play against lefties and some spot duty but Giambi's groin pops with all his floundering around at firstbase and cannot stay healthy for 5 games. He's a DH and should understand as much. There are enough games to keep guys sharp until Giambi hits he sits but I'm sure Girardi will play him first before giving Betemint the shot at first.
