Statement from Joba on his father

Joba's dad, Harlan Chamberlain, is doing better. Here's a statement from Joba that he released through the Yankees.

STATEMENT FROM JOBA CHAMBERLAIN

NEW YORK YANKEES PITCHER

RE: UPDATE ON HOSPITALIZED FATHER, HARLAN

"After several difficult days, my father is feeling much better. He is still in the critical care unit of the hospital and more tests await him, but he is off the ventilator and breathing on his own. Each day he’s acting more and more like himself, and he’s even giving people grief—myself included—because the hospital doesn’t carry Yankees games on television.

“When things like this occur in life, you certainly take notice of how much your teammates become more like family members. Their unconditional support, along with that of so many fans, has made a very tough time easier to deal with. Everyone’s love has been felt by my entire family, and it has brought great comfort to us when we have needed it most.

“I look forward to being reunited with my manager, coaches and teammates so I can thank each of them personally for all that they have done for my family.”

Good to hear Joba's father is doing better.

On another Joba note - we were talking last night about who could possibly replace Moose in the rotation - well an obvious answer that we left out was Joba.

All the right stars are lining up for it to happen:

1. Moose has been awful
2. With Al Horne hurt, the potential replacements at the Trip A level are not inspiring (Igawa and Rasner)
3. Brian Bruney has been great.

If Bru is still effective in late may, and Moose is still awful, I could see the Yankees doing something as early as June to prepare Joba for a starting role.

Bruney hasn't exactly been great...did you see the Tamp Bay game? I know it was his only bad performance but it was a reminder of what could be.....

Jim,

That's why I said if he was still pitching lights out by late may it would be something to consider.

Tonights Lineup:
Hughes RHP

Damon LF
Jeter SS
Abreu RF
Rodriguez 3B
Matsui DH
Cano2B
Giambi 1B
Cabrera CF
Moeller C

There are reports that Edwar has been brought up. But not sure who has been sent down yet.

Edwar Ramirez

0.00 ERA - 7 Innings - 1 Hits - 11 K's

Good news on Harlan Chamberlain. Here's wishes for a speedy recovery.

I hope that Giambi breaks out of this funk and starts hitting.

Harlan Chamberlain is one of those characters if he was in a movie you wouldn't believe him.

THAT GUY is a real man... raising kids (and evidently doing a good job of it as Joba seems like a good solid guy) as a single dad from a wheel chair.

Christ, I can barely be a dad and I have a wife and I can walk!
