Ozzie Guillen on Derek Jeter

So this is humorous: Ozzie Guillen is what one might describe as a "big fan" of Derek Jeter. I wasn't on the White Sox side during Guillen's pre-game yesterday to hear this, but here's one account from the Chicago Tribune:
http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/columnists/cs-080423-downey-white-sox-yankees-derek-jeter,1,4494418.column

"I keep saying the best [Yankees] player who ever happened—bigger than someone else, but I'm not going to say the name here—is Derek Jeter," Guillen began, perched in the Sox dugout.

He merely was warming up.

"Derek Jeter has everything in his life. He's got money. He's got rings. He's got …"

Guillen paused, because timing means everything in comedy.

"He's not married."

Wait for the laugh.

"At the All-Star Game (where Guillen managed him in 2006), I looked around to see if he has anything I don't like. No. He's the perfect man. Too bad I don't have a daughter."

So, in other words, Ozzie, you like this Jeter guy, is that what you're trying to say here?

"He's the best thing ever in the game. He's got everything he wants. He lives in New York. Even [ George] Steinbrenner loves him. Nobody is better than Derek Jeter in the game. Nobody."

I'd say that's high praise, trying to marry your non-existent daughter off to someone.

LOL...I love Ozzie., not just because of the Jeter comments. The game needs more colorful managers like him Sweet Lou, Booby V, etc.

Giggled throughout, but the last line: LOL.

That's just Ozzie being Ozzie.

Watching Girardi the first month of the season, I get a sense of energy in the Yankee dugout. No not the exhuberant type displayed by Shelley Duncan, Melky and Robbie Cano but more like the Jeter type. Its expressed by all the players except for a few Ian Kennedy, Ohlendorph, Farnsworth and Hawkins. Its mostly the pitchers, I wonder why? But the remainder of the team seems to know their position on the club and how they can help.

I have watched bench guys come in and perform well when the starters have come down with injury. We need 25 guys to win it all. And when 25 guys are aware of their job. They are prepared and play well. When the pitchers come around then this team will jell to the expectations of a playoff club is expected to play.

Last night Girardi let one of his informal leaders assist with a decision. Thank God it worked out and the comaradie about the situation was priceless. Girardi knows how to run a baseball team.

Yeah, I see it too. No more sipping tea and dozing off in the dugout. Girardi is actually on his feet and into the game! And, he comes out of the dugout now and then too.

I never really understood Torre dozing in the dugout I thought green tea was a good source of energy.
I was pro Girardi 3 yrs ago.

I purchased at Sam's club Bigelow tea which Torre promotes. Its a box of 100 packets and its quite good. I'm glad JOe T. is in LA drinking it during the game.

I thought if Ozzie Guillen liked people he would call them a homosexual and a child molester.

Jeter isn't "perfect" he's one of the guys that keeps his dirt out of the press but no one's perfect. What does that say for other baseball players in the league like Ken Griffey Jr. and other good guys.
