Girardi to sit tonight

Joe Girardi will not manage tonight's game. He is battling an upper respiratory infection, and has a very high fever, we were told. I never saw him in the clubhouse. Apparently, he's been basically quarantined in his office, with closed doors, in an attempt to keep anyone else from getting it. Rob Thomson will manage the game.

"It'll be fun," Thomson said.
As for Girardi, Thomson said: "He wants to be out there. If he's not going to make bell, he's not feeling too good."

Here's Brian Cashman's reaction to the suspensions being reduced. He said: "I'm glad it's not three games, glad it's two, wish it were none."

And there's yet another change to the lineup. Sorry. Jorge Posada will DH, not catch, as his shoulder's still a bit sore. According to Cashman, Posada: "said it's better but not ready to be pushed today."
Posada told us he's not worried, even though he did have some shoulder issues this spring, as it's in a completely different spot.

Here's the new lineup:

Damon CF
Jeter SS
Abreu RF
Rodriguez 3B
Giambi 1B
Cano 2B
Posada DH
Matsui LF
Molina C
