no thingy tonight?
Melky would have gotten that ball or at least nailed polanco at the plate
How many wins will it take for the Yankees to get the Wild Card?
Let's say 81 - 81 is where they will wind up.
How can the team get another 10 wins, and will that be enough even still. Tampa is looking good! Who thought Baltimore would be this good? I had no idea!
I thought Detroit would be the BEST team and they are not. Cleveland looks ok with CC, Sowers and Cliff Lee, but they are not the giant I thought they would be. If Travis Hafner starts to hit again ... they will be tough ...
James Anthony Shields will be in the All Star Game. He is a great kid. He just beat Beckett 1 - 0 in a CG. Too bad the Yanks can't draft players like Shields, Halladay and Holliday ... but maybe they will put it together with a few good drafts in the next couple of seasons ...
I would hate to miss the playoffs this year. But if we do, Cashman will be gone. We won't win with him here. He had a nice run but needs a fresh start elsewhere. He can fly to Asia and the Caribbean to find players for his new team!
Johan will win 20 this year for Los Mets, but long term, that is a very big contract in a time of financial implosion for the United States. (Gasoline/oil, oil futures contracts, gold, the Euro, 9 Trillion Fiscal Debt, 5 Trillion in borrowed money for the two very lost wars, 50 trillion unfunded liabilities for SS and Medicade, 500 - 600 Trillion in global derivative speculation) ...
The Yanks were smart to pass him up. With their payroll and the new stadium, they should tighten the belt. (No Rupert Jones, please though. We should not be cheap!)
It is hard to think about how to feel about this season ... I guess it is a US$ 200 million year of transition. For the US$ 400 million or so that spent on Mo, Posada and A-Rod ... well, we could have had the transition without them ... couldn't we?
Joba could have closed. Bard and maybe Piazza or someone else could have replaced Jorge. (Who knew he would be injured? It's just bad luck!).
But honestly I am glad we kept A-Rod. What's US$ 300 million for the Yankees? It was US$ 100 million more than any other team would pay though ...
