Melky is becoming a one named star like Cher and Madonna, imagine what can happen for him if he actually becomes a star on the field!
If they would just bat Cano 3rd more often, he would basically be chase utley (a little less power)
Frankied,
Cano is the "3rd batter in waiting" in my opinion. Next year when Abreu is gone you will see some changes in the lineup and more trust being placed in Cano. As Yankees fans know, A-Rod loves batting behind Abreu because he sees a pitchers entire arsenal because of Abreu's plate discipline. Cano hasn't developed that yet, but seemed to be more patient last year.
For now though, there is really not a good place to put Cano besides down lower because there are either better hitters, more patient hitters or veterans who will be insulted by being dropped in the order, in front of him. I don't know if he will move up to 3rd next year or even the year after that, but I am thinking he will be creeping up in the order slowly.
Nudge,
How can you say Joba has not accomplished anything in the big leagues yet??? Granted, he is not an accomplished, seasoned player yet, and may in fact never get another out in a big league game. Only time will tell where his career goes from here. But what he did last year was amazing - almost legendary, and was certainly a huge accomplishment, and that can not and should not be taken away. I think most everyone here could agree that without Joba, last year the Yankees would not have made the playoffs. Anyway, to say he has not accomplished anything yet is like saying Bucholz has not accomplished anything yet in his major league career because he only started one game. And we all know what he did in that game was certainly a fabulous accomplishment.
Say Hey, I was sorry to see your boy Danny Noriega get voted off Idol last nighth. Oh well, I'm sure you will meet a nice fruitcake at your next NAMBLA meeting.
DRU, Jim A
Are yous guys on Long Island?
Boss,
I grew up on Long Island (Holbrook) but I have lived in Virginia for 25 years.
I thought so, Jim A. You're outside of DC, right? I was wondering because when I said I have tickets to some games, both you and DRU said you would use them if I couldn't. So for you, it would have to be a weekend game, right?
Boss,
That would be great, but I have a flexible work schedule so I can make just about anything work.
I am about 40 miles outside of DC, near Dulles Airport.
The real problem with Farnsworth is that he's still on our roster!
