Here are some roster moves, which bring the Yankees camp down to 52 in big league camp:
The Yankees optioned infielder Juan Miranda to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
They reassigned outfielders Colin Curtis, Austin Jackson and Jose Tabata, and catcher P.J. Pilittere to minor league camp.

I saw Tabata a few times and I wasn't all that impressed. I know he's young but I thought he would look a little better than he did. Let's hope he is just shaking off rust after his hand surgery.
How does everyone feel about the Rangers (NHL) playing a game at Yankee Stadium as the final event in the stadium's history? I don't really care for it as I'd rather see the Yankees themselves play the final contest at their stadium.
Plus, I hate the Rangers. :)
They may call it the 'cathedral of baseball, but there have always been plenty of events that I was indifferent to held at the Stadium -- this seems no worse than others.
I personally don't have a problem with it.
I gave up watching hockey in the 90's after the sport went down the tubes and Sega stopped making quality NHL games.
But i did watch the other outdoor game they had this season and i thought that was pretty cool. It would be cool to see an outdoor game in Yankee stadium.
Honestly who cares if it is the last thing played in the stadium. Baseball season ends by that point.
Ant... the whole "Eckstein has won X number of titles since 2000, how many has Jeter won" argument is insane.
Yeah, Eckstein is a solid hard nose player who played his butt off for the Angels in 2002 and St. Louis in 2006.
And yeah, Jeter hasn't won his 5th ring.
Using that logic I could say "Mike Timlin has 4 World Series rings and Mariano Rivera has 4 rings... ergo they are equals."
Using that logic I could point out that Luis Sojo has 4 rings, as many as Hank Aaron, Willie Mays and Roberto Clemente have combined.
But seriously, if you are up for the GM job for the Yankees, by all means take it!
You forgot the other roster move ... Billy Crystal. Yankees sign outfielder faster than Matsui and Damon. Hank Steinbrenner wonders wherther the Sox will respond by signing Dennis O'Leary and Ben Affleck. Where's Sam Malone when you need him?
I think it's Denis Leary.....I'm just sayin'.
Ant: I still can't figure out whether you like the Yankees or hate them. It's almost as if they are a drug to you, you hate them but.....you love them.
You have to realize nobody and no team is/are perfect. Your Cardinals certainly aren't what with their manager getting arrested for DUI the same year that a pitcher dies while driving drunk.
Even your boy Ted Lilly punched his manager in the face and then threw his glove down on the mound in a full blown hissy fit last season.
Players are human, they f*ck up just like the rest of us.
I wouldn't be able to score with a fistful of $50's in a horehouse.
Ant Droppings has no clue about baseball. Eckstein was a steroid pumped up shortstop as a member of the Angels. He is a barely-made-it shortstop who has seen better days. Jeter may become the alltime hit king near the end of his career, at least in the top 5. How ridiculous to put Eckstein the Hobbitt in the same sentence with Jeets.
Go Yankees! Watch out for the lunacy, it's everywhere.
Jim.A - As a Rangers fan, it would be cool to see them play outdoors in Yankee stadium. We still have our Yanks in common.
If the game happens in the Stadium, as a HUGE Rangers and Yanks fan, I don't see how I could not go, so I'll have to find a way to get tickets.
I think the "outdoor NHL game" is a better idea in theory than actuality. Much of the Sabres vs Penguins game was reduced to dumping the puck and constant timeouts to repair the ice with the one Zamboni machine they had. Like the IRL hiring Gene Simmons to write a theme song or those "NBA player with Hollywood star like Robert Conrad and Pat Boone" games CBS put on at halftime in the 1970.
When exactly is the Pope suppose to visit America? That seems like a better way to close the stadium if you had a papal address..if it can be arranged.
