Pettitte scratched from start
Andy Pettitte has been scratched from his start Wednesday with minor muscle irritation in his left forearm on the outside of the elbow.
Manager Joe Girardi heavily emphasized that the ailment is minor. Pettitte is not being sent for any tests, and Girardi said he would start if it were the regular season. In fact, Pettitte pushed to make the start Wednesday against the Rays.
"They're extremely cautious here, and I guess it's a good thing," Pettitte said.
Pettitte said he first felt the irritation after his last bullpen session while playing catch. He said he was not concerned or would have stopped pitching. However, he told the Yankees what he was feeling and Wednesday morning they told him they would skip his start. The Yankees are treating the elbow with hot and cold bath, light microcurrent therapy, massage and stretching.
Asked about his level of concern, Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said, "Low. He could have went today."
Girardi said Pettitte will make his next scheduled start in five days, and that the injury will not keep the pitcher from being ready for the start of the regular season.
"It is nothing serious," Girardi said. "He's mad at us for not letting him throw (Wednesday), but it was kind of an executive decision that we made. We figure we'll just back him off and he'll make his next start, and it won't change where he starts during the season."

Nudge is client 10 , only way he can get it.

Where's the HGH I only want to do the right thing and get back in the rotation...you know....for the fans and all.
Dad.....Dad, whats the guys name at the gym? You still got his phone number?
I'd love to give Mac a call but they probably have his phone tapped.
Maybe a quick trip down to Mexico. I can shoot the stuff myself....I already have. I mean Im not doing it to build muscles or anything, I'm just really concerned about the team. The fans will be disappointed if I actually broke down and fell apart. They want me out there. I am an honest guy because I admitted everything. If caught this time I will promise to admit everything again....for the third time.
I know you all think I am a pathetic loser who sits around waiting for any kind of bad news from the Yankees camp and you are probably right but this is all I have in my lonely little life. Ever since my mom caught me touching my sister they just do not let me out of my room and it gets a little boring in here.
I am really not a bad person but I am just angry because my daddy spanked me a lot when I was 10, which was just a couple of years ago so the memories are still fresh and I couldn't tell who liked the spankings more, me or him so it kind of weirded me out you know?
You guys are the only people I ever talk to besides the counselor and he always makes me cry so I don't want to make you mad but this is fun.
Link to a nice article about Ohlendorf, about whom it definitely can NOT be said that he is 'all hat, no cattle'... ;-)

Not much chat about Kennedy. Any special reason we're not noticing him much?
Political news reminds us of the eternal truth -- guys who point and yell a lot about other people's morality are always, always guys with something to hide.
If it is any consolation....my boys aint exactly having a banner spring training either...on top of that, they have to go to Japan in a week. As much as most of us would love to visit Japan, I cant imagine that cutting ST short and opening the season that far away, is anything any ML ballplayer wants to go through. Many of the Yankee players would most likely agree with that.
Casual: A few days ago, I left a comment for you and Sully on my seeing Carlton Fisk in a golf course community that I play at. He's huge not in a bad way but just a tall big man. He was walking this little dog early in the AM. He waved to me and my playing partner. It brought back memories of his fight with Pinnella at home plate and his famous waltz urging a HR to stay fair in the WS against the Reds many moons ago.
As far as the Yankee spring training, the quiet that has permeated the camp. Is such a good thing! I look for a very good year and in the hunt if our injuries are not as frequent as last year. Make no mistake for a team to compete or win the WS players must be free of injury and have career years. Even in our glory days of the late 90's. Things just went our way. As they did for Boston last year. Its about lucky bounces as it is great play.
Diane,
I guess Kennedy has the good luck to come up with two highly touted, much publicized fellow prospects. Some may see this as bad luck but for him it's probably a good thing and I bet Hughes wishes he could trade places with him and be the under the radar guy.
A lot of what I've read about Kennedy says that he may be more of a sure thing then Joba and Hughes. I'm anxious to find out!
Jim A: when you refer to a sure thing as far as Ian. I would be happy with two rotation pitchers comparable to #2 slotted and Joba as 8th inning setup and then closer down the road. To me the Yankees would have done well to not trade for Johan if this pans out.
Larry,
If the young pitching continues to pitch as well as they have so far in ST....your Yankees are going to be a force.
Regarding Fisk......yeah, I know what you mean...when you see one of these guys live up close it always amazes me how much bigger they are than on the tv...or even from the stands at the park.
Diane,
There's an article in the Daily News about Kennedy. If you go to the sports section and click on baseball, you'll find it.
It's a nice piece on the Kid.
Thanks, John G., I'll go there.
I have wondered if Kennedy is just a style of pitcher that is not much appreciated here, along the lines of Mussina. Kennedy is another very smart guy who went to and graduated from a real university where he had a great academic record, who uses varying pitches with craft and guile, is not overpowering or intimidating ... just a thought.
I posted this on the previous thread, ranking the Yankees pitching prospects. Feel free to disagree or ask questions if you don't know about some of the guys I listed and I can give you some information on them or provide links to information about them. Anyway, here it is:
I'm going to give a top 12 Yankee pitching prospects for you Ant and Smith and Carpenter won't be anywhere near it. I'm giving 12 because for your sake, I'll include Hughes and Joba, but I don't consider them prospects anymore. The TJ guys will have (TJ) after their name as a way to say there is still some uncertainty. I'll also put in parenthesis where each pitcher will most likely be pitching this year for the Yanks. I'll use first and last names for those less familiar. I'm using three factors in my rankings, duration of time before they should join the MLB team, overall ceiling, and probability of reaching their ceiling.
1. Phil Hughes (Yanks)
2. Joba Chamberlain (Yanks)
3. Ian Kennedy (Yanks)
4. Andrew Brackman (TJ/Rehab)
5. Dellin Betances (Charleston)
6. Alan Horne (SWB)
7. Jeff Marquez (SWB)
8. Mark Melancon (TJ/Rehab/Yanks)
9. Dan McCutchen (Trenton)
10. Jairo Heredia (SI)
11. Humberto Sanchez (TJ/Rehab/Yanks)
12. JB Cox (TJ/Rehab)
Honorable Mention:
Ross Ohlendorf
Kevin Whelan
Dave Robertson
George Kontos
I know you didn't do it for me, but thank you HYD!
I love that you have a guy there that I know nothing about (Jairo Heredia). Just because I don't, I'd put Ohlendorf on the list instead of him. That doesn't mean I'm quarreling with your choice, just that I'm working with the information I actually have.
Diane: IPK is the most underrated of the big 3 and I've seen various articles all about him. I'm going to give you links to a couple that I particularly enjoyed and I think you'll like the comments that go with them:
http://mvn.com/milb-yankees/2008/02/21/1-ian-kennedy/
http://mvn.com/milb-yankees/2008/02/24/ian-kennedy-brad-radke/
IPK will always be the third of the big 3 and as a result the least talked about. He's also the least flashy of the big 3 and he's reserved. He was overshadowed by Joba last year, if not for Joba, he'd be getting tons of acclaim after his performance last year. I see him having a very long career, though a career without any Cys whereas Joba and Phil are both seen as potential Cy Guys. He's not being ignored, just overshadowed.
D, they compare Jairo Heredia to Pedro. I believe ( HYD correct me if Im wrong ), but he's really young like 17-18 and has a LIVE arm.
And yes, he is another RHP.
Thanks, Dru, for more info on Jairo.
And HYD, thanks for the links, good reading more about IPK. I liked what I saw of him last year and I also keep in mind that he is the one of the troika that we can expect to get the most innings out of this year -- so the significance of how well he does gets somewhat magnified.
Diane: In that case, here's a bit about Jairo (no surprise you don't know much about him, he's new and young). If you want a full write up, the guys over at RAB did a great job:
http://riveraveblues.com/2007/12/27/prospect-profile-jairo-heredia-1881/
Age: 18
How Acquired: International Free Agent 2006 ($285,000)
Righthanded (seems like all the Yank prospects are)
6'1" 189lbs
Fastball: 90-92mph and projecting to 92-94mph as he ages and develops
He pitched for the Yanks in the GCL and had some pretty impressive numbers in limited innings:
22 IPs
3 ERs
25 Ks
3 BBs
10 Hits
He had pitched in the Dominican before the GCL, so he had pitched 40 innings total which is why he'll most likely be in SI this year.
Some have compared him to Pedro, but is that really fair for an 18 year old?
For some context, here's how Baseball America ranked the top GCL prospects:
1. Michael Burgess, of, Nationals
2. Jesus Montero, c, Yankees
3. Ben Revere, of, Twins
4. Che-Husan Lin, of, Red Sox
5. John Tolisano, 2b, Blue Jays
6. Pedro Baez, 3b, Dodgers
7. Oscar Tejeda, ss, Red Sox
8. Neftali Soto, ss, Reds
9. Luis de la Cruz, c, Cardinals
10. Andrew Lambo, 1b/of, Dodgers
11. Devin Mesoraco, c, Reds
12. Kevin Aherns, 3b/ss, Blue Jays
13. Kyle Lotzkar, rhp, Reds
14. Scott Moviel, rhp, Mets
15. Jairo Heredia, rhp, Yankees
16. D'Marcus Ingram, of, Cardinals
17. Deryk Hooker, rhp, Cardinals
18. Daniel Berlind, rhp, Twins
19. Angel Morales, of, Twins
20. Tyler Kolodny, 3b, Orioles
DRU: Didn't see your post before I threw that one up there, but yeah, he's young. He'll turn 19 this year. We signed him as an IFA at 17 years old.
HYD...its not fair at all to compare him to Pedro at this stage. I think the comparison is mainly because of his delivery and also because hes a small framed dominican RHP with excellent control.
We can only dream that he's half of what Pedro was in his prime.
Who's watching or listening to the game? How bad was the fight?
I wish Jim...stuck at work right now.
Very nice info and link regarding Jairo, HYD, now I have a whole other young Yank in my head as I head out to take care of business!
Not to mention a question in my head about 'the fight', Jim A.???
Diane,
Look a few threads ahead, it's a beanball day at the park----------->
