Actual baseball

So now that you've had your comedy for the noon hour, here's the lineup for today's last spring game at the about-to-be-renamed George M. Steinbrenner Field.

Yankees
Damon DH
Jeter SS
Duncan RF
Rodriguez 3B
Posada C
Matsui LF
Ensberg 1B
Betemit 2B
Cabrera CF

Igawa P

Andy Pettitte feels fine today. He will throw another bullpen tomorrow, pitch in a minor league game Sunday and probably start Friday or Saturday next week.

Johnny Damon's still a little under-the-weather, but plans to take a couple at-bats as a DH. He said he'll play and play the field tomorrow and Saturday no matter how he feels.

BTW, Pete Abe says that Brett Gardner got sent down. Not a good couple of days for him - he got blasted in the teeth last night and a pink slip for his trouble today.

When is the story gonna break about who Derek Jeter is taking to the prom? These Yankee personal interest stories are so riveting I can't wait to see what's tomorrows puff piece is. Really increases the interest and talk about baseball, don't you think?

Pete Abe has more info on roster moves:

I do have this info for you: Cody Ransom, Jason Lane, Jason Brown, Greg Porter and Bernie Castro were all reassigned to the minor league camp. But most of them will go to Miami as backups.

Looks like Ensberg is a lock to make the team.

Yankee Minutia-

I'd rather here about Yankee girlfriends and wives than about Ant Colonys non-sense.

GW,

Fine, read it on page 6, not in the sports section. Ant Colonys rants at least have some passion. The other garbage I feel like the screen should be pink with lace around the sides. Can we dispense with the feminization of sports already. This isn't ladies tennis.

Maybe next a survey on who wears boxers and who wears briefs....for the ladies.

Then an article about ten ways to tell if your shortstop is cheating on you.....for the ladies.

Then a survey of who's that hottest hunks on the team.

This isn't freakin' Cosmo...its sports! Who cares about all the other stuff. Its girly material written by girly writers for girly fans and girly men!

My heads about to explode with girly rage!

Oh come now Minutia...Ant's posts have passion? Is that what you call his "in your face, sinners repent, I'm perfect and you're not" nonsense? I'd rather have root canal than listen to him $hit on the rest of the world as he plays God. This is Spring Training and there's not much going on. Yankees fans of both genders and all ages are interested in the personal lives of our players. Just like I totally ignore Ant's rants you can ignore the personal stuff...but I can imagine how wholeheartedly you probably -- and I'll emphasize probably -- enjoy the nastier personal stuff when it comes to accusations of adultry and steroids and spitting on the sidewalk. Non-fans seem to revel in the nasty stuff but just can't bear to read the good news. I'm still mystified thought when I see Yankee haters coming to a Yankees site complaining about Yankee content. That's just so Nudge-like it's nauseating;

Anony,

Then don't complain when the things that A-Rod does off the field also get reported in the sports pages. No-one really cared to here about that stuff last year. We all were in an uproar about what a big deal was being made about that off the field stuff. You cant have it both ways. Just because its nice fluff....its still fluff.
