Rained out

Workouts have been rained out for the day. The Yankees are doing things in the cages, but nothing more is going on outdoors until tomorrow.

I know this is way off topic, but here's another example why George King is the worst Yankee beat writer in the business.

Here is a direct quote taken from his piece this morning:

"What Chamberlain didn't bring yesterday was his 98-mph fastball and filthy slider. Not on the first day facing hitters. His best pitch was a change-up, which ranks fourth behind the heater, splitter and slider."

Can anyone tell me what's wrong with this quote? I'm sure there are more than a few astute Joba fans that should figure this one out rather quickly.

Please, Kat. I'm not usually a violent man - but do us all a favor and punch George King in the nose the next time you see him in the clubhouse.

George King is a fat moron.

Viper I'm actually very relieved to hear such things!!!

That means he's got a changeup!!!

If I had my wish the two kids would be throwing change ups morning noon and night and sleeping with the ball in a circle change grip!!!

I too think we should all commission a punishment for King's ignorant moronic and wildly inaccurate reporting and incompetence.

I'll leave it vague because I'm pretty sure I just conspired to commit an act of "- - - - - - - -" which I believe is probably illegal hah.

Well, the answer I was looking for is that Joba doesn't throw a splitter. He throws a fastball, slider, change-up and curve ball.

King would know this if he just paid attention and listened to Joba speak yesterday. I'm sure he was there with his little tape recorder like everyone else:

------------------

"I threw some good changeups," he said. "The fastball was OK. It needs to be better. The curveball and slider were good."

------------------

And again......

------------------

Last year, when he became an instant fan favorite with his work setting up Mariano Rivera, "Ninety-eight percent was fastball and slider," Joba said. "I think I threw three changeups and four curveballs. I didn't use them that much at all."

-----------------

How does a long-time Yankee beat writer make such careless mistakes time and time again? Yes, we are all human, but this kind of amateur crap has been a pattern for King over the last several years.

If the guy is going to take a condescending tone in his writing (his fourth best pitch...yada yada), he should be wise enough to know what Joba actually throws.

It's a shame the Post still employs this chump.

Viper, I hope, since you're keeping track of them anyway, that you're e-mailing his paper about King's errors.

That might hurt him more than a punch in the nose.

Viper

LOL

Forgive me but my reason for failing to give you "What you were looking for" only reinforces our mutual hatred of the Fat Man.

When I read about the alleged "splitter" I assumed it was possible that Joba was trying one out cause I, like you...Had not known about any "Splitter" in Joba's arsenal.

I figured..."Well that's weird didn't know Joba had a splitter...Hmm...Well he did hang out with Roger a lot last year maybe Roger taught him a splitter"

Just another shining example of King Fat Idiot's incompetence.

Diane,

That's a good thought and probably something I should do. However, I probably won't because it's much quicker and easier to p*ss and moan about it within these walls for a few minutes until the next time he does something stupid - which will probably be tomorrow.

I'm also not naive enough to think my emails to the Post would change anything. That said, I do know I'm not the only one who notices his pattern of amateur reporting. He may have a long track record in the business, but his competence has been slipping for quite awhile.

Phucker,

If he didn't already have that nasty hard slider, I would love to see Joba throw a splitter. However, if he's going to start, he needs to master his offspeed pitches so that he'll have more of a balanced repertoire in his arsenal (two offspeed pitches, two hard pitches).

Sigh. As you can see, I’m really getting excited for baseball season.

What I find ridiculous about Peon George's comment is that he expects pitchers to be throwing 98 mph on the first day. You don't throw 98 the first day...you build up strength over time. I can't believe he thinks Joba should blow his arm out in spring training to show the world his stuff...which we already know he has. What a freakin' jerk. What a dumb-ass moron.
