Yankees lead 8-1 in fifth inning

The Yankees lead 8-1 in the fifth inning. Derek Jeter tied things at 1-1 with a solo homer in the top pof the fourth. A Robinson Cano groundout scored Bobby Abreu later that inning.
The floodgates opened this inning for the Yankees. Jeter drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Bobby Abreu then walked, Alex Rodriguez was hit by a pitch and Jorge Posada hit a two-run single to right-center field. Robinson Cano hit a three-run homer to rightfield, and that was the end of J.P. Howell's night.
Owner George Steinbrenner is here, and must be enjoying the show.

the reason this blog isnt as popular as lohud is bc that post contains information that anyone could get off yahoo or espn - i love your work k, but please try to give us more of an inside look at the team

This blog is terrible. If anybody doesn't already know, one far superior alternative is Peter Abraham's LoHud Yankees blog. Thanks, kobrien, for putting in an all around minimal, passionless effort into what was once a solid, interesting read. I cannot wait until you are fired.

i just don't understand why she recaps whats going on in the game - everyone is watching, or if not you can get much more info from any other site

Does anybody remember when the last writer, Jim, put up interesting things like baseball cards or throwback photos of players? I really miss that.

this blog could be written by anyone who watches the team casually...wheres the insight!

oh what a catch by melky!!! also i agree with everyone this blog stinks. LOHUD FOR LIFE!!!!!

the only thing this blog is good for is getting your comments read since there are so few comments

I have been trying to remember what Senor A. Boy is an anagram for but my memory banks must be overfull.

As for this blog, its attraction for the months that I have been here has been that there are some intelligent commenters.

There are half a dozen better blogs to read, but not that many attract intelligent and civilized conversations among their commenters. Unfortunately many former regulars who contributed a great deal to the exchanges here have been disappearing. That makes the proportion of bellicose knuckledraggers higher even if they have not increased in absolute numbers, and they do somewhat poison the atmosphere even though we don't have to read or respond to them.

I regret the changes but accept that good things don't always last.

When the fun is gone here I will no longer have reason to visit the Newsday site, since you guys are its only attraction.

Thanks Marianne.

I think.

There are enough good people who post here. We just can't be here all of the time, but I keep this site fired up while I'm at work.

I thought that today's discussions were really good and there were a lot of good comments.

I first came here in Nov and there are still a lot of the same people here that were here then.
Some are gone. I haven't seen Ruse Ca in a while and I wonder what happen there.

Diane is gone and so is Lucy. I hope that they come back.

Anyway, I don't want to feel bad tonight.

It's a good night! :-)

I really miss Diane...
