Bang up reporting as usual, kobrien!
Just posted on the Met site, but wanted to share my thoughts with the more intelligent fans who frequet this one.
Does anyone think that Tom Glavine is the most overated "Big Game" pichter EVER. Clemens gets bashed for his numbers which come mostly from a couple of horrific starts in the post-season and everyone always conveniently forgets his backto back 1 and 2 hit shutouts - against seattle he was 3 inches from a no hitter and he was totally int the mets head in the series. Anyway back to Glavine - every time this guy takes the mound all you hear is about his big game prowess -- really came up big today putting his team in a 7 run hole in the most important game of the season.
I think it is unfair to bury Glavine for this lousy game.
I mean he's won 2 Cy Youngs and a top 3 finisher 3 other times... plus won a World Series MVP.
Granted of the 3 big Braves pitcher, Smoltz was probably the biggest clutch pitcher... but still his performance today shouldn't throw away the fact that he had a great career
