I didn't see the game, but I saw on the game log that Angel Hernandez was the ump who kicked Joba out. He's one of the worst umpires in MLB so I'm assuming that it wasn't justified. Interesting to see the post game reactions. Hope this game is on replay tonight on YES.

Yes,Hernandez called a game against the Mets earlier this year and he tossed Willie(or maybe LoDuca)for arguing a call.

The Orioles have been playing terrible ball in the last few weeks. They have lost 8 in a row. Now they are bringing up some minor league pitchers to face the Red Sox the next two games. I'll bet we get to face Bedard, Guthie and Cabrera while the Red Sox face some fresh faced kids. Maybe the Orioles want the Red Sox to win the division. Who knows?

Joba Coincidences

I don't think we will ever truly know if it was intentional or not but here are 3 coincidences that go into this:

1. Youk was involved in the play in the 7th and walked 3 times, not sure if that means anything but it certainly is interesting.

2. It's a 5-0 game, 9th inning, one out, Drew coming up after Lowell, if that's now the best time to hit someone, when is?

3. The two pitches that were thrown as Youk were in the same location, and were fairly close.

The umps usually don't like to let this crap happen, even if it unintentional. The game is already over for the most part, and Yoba is threatening to hit Youk with a 98-99 mph pitch. I think this is a pretty decent situation for an ump to react to. Just my humble opinion though.

I don't think Youkilis is a whiner.

As I said, I'd love to have him on the Yanks.

The starters didn't kill you Sully, but they didn't stand out either. The Yanks got to them.

There were no warnings so Joba shouldn't have been thrown out. Umpires should have been warning the Red Sox pitchers all series but they didn't warn them once. The same set of rules need to apply to both teams. If Red Sox can pitch up and in, then the Yankees can pitch up and in. No warnings, no ejections, it's as simple as that.
