Reliable Andy

Count on Andy Pettitte to help the Yankees get back in the win column. Pettitte gave up one run in seven innings as the Yankees beat the Angels 8-2 to avoid a sweep. Pettitte improved his August record to 5-0 with a 2.07 ERA.

And thanks to the Elias Sports Bureau for this nugget. Pettitte is now 68-33 as a Yankee when pitching following a Yankees loss.

I must say... impressive win tonight for the Yankees

And you have a day off tomorrow. Most impressive.

Am I the only one who noticed these three series for the Yanks are against the teams that eliminated them the last 3 years? The Angels, the Tigers and my boys.

They aren't playing the Marlins next, are they?

Meanwhile my boys also are playing the last two teams to eliminate us:
The White Sox ('05) and you guys ('03)

No word if we are playing our inner demons ('06) anytime soon

I can't take it anymore!!!

I have scream it outloud!!!

I love JOBA!!!!

HE BEAT UP VLADDY!!!

I'm a sucker for this kinda stuff.

I'm such a SLUT when
they beat up the biggest guy on the other team LOL

But in all seriousness a few weeks ago when Kat posed the question as to who we all thought was the most exciting player we enjoyed watching I bloviated crazy on Hughes and it was before his return from injury and before we knew this Joba person was more than a AAA factoid.

By no means do I mean to denigrate that special night in Texas but I'm such a sucker for this JOba kid.

I'm not gonna compare I'll just say the "sexy" in Joba embarrassing Vlad Guerro, Magglio, Sheffield, and those other unfortunate VICTIMS is absolutely invigorating!!!

I only hope Phil can build up his confidence and reclaim that fire we see in JOba that he too had in Texas.

It seems to me that he may be tentative. His velocity and aggression seen that evening in may has yet to be seen.

I could speculate idiocy which I'm pretty good at but instead I'll just say that I'm very pleased with tonight.

Andy being the veteran homegrown thoroughbred of the dynasty era Showed his pinstriped pedigree like the proud 4 ring fisted warrior he is.

I know we go up and down from chicken little to chest thumping bravado but I for one will savor this evening for me this was a wonderfull night.

BRING ON THE TIGERS!!!

(until sunday of course where we will collectively pray for mother nature to rain heavy on a potential Mussina return)

HIGH FIVES ALL AROUND!!

WEll DONE BOYS

Lucky win! If you had lost I'm sure you wouldn't be feeling so frick'in giddy. ....calm down.....

The Tigers are healthy this weekend and playing at home. They'll be no 3 out of 4 in their house for sure. You best pray on playing Monday, because if there's a rainout. Mussina pitches the 1st game on Tuesday against the Sox.

No matter when he pitches, chaulk up a loss on your end! Might be Monday or it will be on Tuesday, it's still going to be a loss!

Your Moose is cooked!

MANCRUSH ON TIGERS,

You'd better hope the Sox can pull off more than one run like they did last night against last place Tampa Bay. The Devil Ray's pitcher was 2-13 before last night's game and your soxy woxies couldn't get more than one run off of this "Ace", ROFLMFAO. Nice game, good hitting LMFAO.

Healthy Tigers? Is that right? Know your facts before you post so you don't look foolish, Mancrush on Tigers.

Gary Sheffield is expected to miss at least the rest of the Tigers' current homestand while he tries once and for all to calm down an aching right shoulder that has bothered him for much of the last two months.

"It's time for me to shut it down and get myself right," Sheffield said, "because I'm doing myself and the team a disservice by trying to play hurt. It's one thing to be hurting and one thing to be injured. And I'm on the side of injured."

Sheffield said he aggravated the injury on Tuesday when he tried to lift weights for the first time in over a month, hoping to help his strengthening program to regain the power in his shoulder, but the pain has essentially followed him since July. He had said Sunday that while the pain and numbness were largely gone, his shoulder was still weak, and he was playing because the team needed his presence in the lineup.

After lifting on Tuesday, he said he "felt a little pop" in his shoulder during batting practice. He had it treated and played in the game, but went 0-for-3 with a walk and three fly balls Tuesday night against Cleveland's Fausto Carmona.

I agree with 26 Rings,

Sheffield is playing hurt and even said in an interview that he wouldn't play this hurt for any other manager other than Jim Leyland (evidently not racist)

Zumaya is back but who knows how healthy he is.

The Tigers, not the Red Sox, are the reason the Yankees are back in it. Yeah the Sox lead is smaller, but they've been playing above .500 ball,

unlike the sinking so fast that I am looking for Leonardo and Kate on the bow Tigers.

Their pitching staff isn't what it was, Todd Jones isn't reliable and other than Guillen and Magglio, their bats are creaky.

They are lucky the Indians haven't run away with the division... and they have made the Central Runner up almost irrelevant.

The Yankees could very well KILL these Tigers this weekend

Sheffield is suppose to be out at least until Monday because he's not just hurt, he's injured as he puts it. But he thinks he's superman so I wouldn't be surprised to see him playing.

Zumaya is in the game now against the Indians so maybe they will wear him out.

Lets wish Zumaya luck
Break a leg Zumaya
No, break an arm instead
Just kidding.
Rather get hits and beat him when he's healthy. That's more impressive and worth much more than defeating an injured pitcher.

The Tribe is slapping Zumaya around
