The Yankees are about to begin their second four-game series against the Tigers in just more than a week. They won three of four at Yankee Stadium last weekend. Now they're playing at the Tigers' home, Comerica Park. Negating some of the home-field advantage, if not all, is the fact that Gary Sheffield is not expected to play until Monday at the earliest. Sheffield is day-to-day with a sore right shoulder. He has 24 homers, 71 RBIs, 97 runs scored and 20 steals (surprising, right?).
Up tonight it's Roger Clemens vs. Andrew Miller.

Sheffield or no Sheffield,! They'll be no 3 out of 4 for the Yankees this weekend!!!!
Most likely a SWEEP for the Tigers!
Sox up in the 5th 5-1 in Chicago. Beckett goes for league leading 16th win!
John Fields just became my favorite White Sox player.
5-3 Boston bottom 5th.
Javier Lopez just became by favorite left handed reliever!!!!!
Hopefully Detroit will become my favorite wildcard spoiler!!!!

I heard Torre on Mike and the Mad Dog about an hour ago. Duncan is playing RF tonight and Abreu is sitting. Damon is DHing.
I would like to see Torre come back next year so they can win one last WS with him ... then bring in Girardi.
With ...
Wang
Duncan
Andy Phillips
Melky
Cano
Joba the Hutt
Hughes the Baby?
Ian
It will be a good young team for many years to come.
I would like to see them pry Ludwick away from the Cardinals ...
He hits a ton ... when he gets a hold of it ...
They have ...
Encarnacion
Ankiel
Edmonds
Duncan
Japanese guy I cant think of
Colby Rasmus
Ludwick
They don't need all of them ... so maybe the Yankees and Cardinals can make a trade, no?
Let's go Yankees ... on to victory in the Motor City!
Go GM!
I think that next year will be a tough one for the Yanks and part of me hopes that it is. I desperatly want to see a rotation of Pettite Wang Hughes Joba and Kennedy with Olendorf getting a shot in the Yankees en (we will see if Gammons is right about him)and Sanchez maybe getting a call up to be a set-up man. Despite his poor year, I would be thrilled if they took a stab at Andrew Jones in the offseason as despite the fact that he has been around forever he is still relatively young and probaly has 5-6 good years left. Sorry to the Melky fans, but I still don't think he is the long term answer in center field.
I look at next year as a transition year for this team and if they do put out a staff of three babies they will take some lumps and have grwing pains. As good as Joba is right now, he will not be that dominant right off the bat as a starter.
Obviously, the chances of this happening are slim and none because this team won't be allowed to have a down year. Mussina can't be traded as he is a 10-5 player and has full veto rights and I doubt he will allow a trade so barring an injury he is in the rotation.
I wonder if the D Rays and Yankees can pull of a deal for a stud pitcher for stud hitter:
Crawford for Kennedy and Horne/Marquez. After all they do have about 27 all world outfielders and are a few stud pitchers away from contention and Crawford contract will increase to 8 million in 2008 (club option) and 9 million in 2009 (club option). After that he will command 15 million at least on the open market and will hit free agencu before all of the Rays young guns, particularly their pitchers are ready to compete.
As good a pitcher as Kennedy will be and despite the potential the others have, I would do that deal. Doubtful that the Rays would though as Crawford is the face of the franchise and the guy who sells tickets.
Barring a trade which wont happen unless they Yanks get blown away, Kennedy will start the year in AAA due to the presence of Moose. Thats a shame because I have been more excited about this team than any since 2003, and whether they make the playoffs or not I will consider it a great year because of the emergence of the kids. Thats the reason I want to see them all in the Bronx next year, growing pains and all even if it means the team suffers a little
