Funny how things never change under JT? Maybe one of the JT lovers could explain it to me? How can it be that a young player comes up through the minors and plays two years for the New York Yankees and STILL doesn't seem to understand that we run hard on ALL balls hit, ESPECIALLY gap shots to the OF!!!

If Billy or I were running this show, Mr. Melky would now be sitting on the bench and would be getting a much needed lesson on how to play and respect the game, not to mention, the Yankee way. But, as usual, there's no discipline from the manager and the same mental lapses are allowed to continue over and over again! What a shame.

Agree with you I do rick

RIck

I agree that he should hustle but he does have the only RBI right now so can we bench him after the game?

The force is strong it is not with this man read please.

Teixeira, who feuded with manager Ron Washington earlier this season when Washington asked him to pay more attention to moving runners over, is a free agent two winters from now. So the acquiring club theoretically would have him for at least 1½ seasons. A contract extension likely is out of the question as his agent, Scott Boras, prefers his clients test their value on the open market.

team player he is supposedly not.

This team is playing now just like they did earlier when they were horrible.

I don't get these Yankees.

And just like earlier in the year they can't score with people on third and less than 2 outs. When Jeter got that 1st strike I had a sinking feeling he would strike out, and sure enough, he did. And then Abreu grounds out. This looks so far like the Yankees of May.

This is the Yankees of May. This is a bad time for this.

Geez, a 3-1 game and you guys are throwing in the towel?

Please don't cheer if they come back in this game because you give up way too easily.

In case you didn't know, the O's bullpen sucks and Chris Ray is on the DL.

Haven't given up. I do remember saying "so far". But it has been 2 games in a row when they've squandered plenty of scoring opportunites. And in case you haven't noticed every inning is extremely important now.

Another runner left at third with less than 2 outs.

Nonetheless, they aren't going to win every game.

They can still catch CLE in the WC standings if BOS is out of reach.

9 outs left to get into that terrible O's pen.

I know you can't win every game, but when you need to win you don't let golden scoring opportunities go wasted. And so far 1-2-3 against that bullpen.

The best teams waste golden opportunities as well.

It happens. Can't play at the top of their game forever.

They are not inspiring much confidence in me for a comeback tonight.

It's only a run.

It's not like it's 7 runs.

C'mon, are you a Yankee fan or what?

Yeah I am a Yankee fan. Since '75. But I call it as I see it. They look listless again. They are a jeckyl and hyde team. Sometimes 1 measly run seems like a mountain. I mean twice they swung at the first pitch this inning. Work the count especially later in the game.

And I think you forgot our "stellar" bullpen still needs to pitch. Hey look good 'ol Proctor comes through again.

Perhaps you'll be happier if you just root for the Red Sox.

You seem to be a miserable person who views everything with pessimism.

good faith you have Viper.

consistant the yankees are not suck they do sometimes.

to win you show consistancy.

hill to steep to climb they win 6 in a row clev wins one yankees back to 5 out , boston wins two yankees 8.5 out. they need desire

O.K. that was lame. I'd rather die than root for Boston. But when you see crappy play from a $200 million team that needs wins against bad teams, I will be pessimistic. They have given no reason to be overly optimistic. And that was a really dumbass statement to call me a miserable person. I didn't call you anything, yet you call me a miserable person? Whatever. I'm a quite happy person and am content when I can be honest about my team when they mail it in some nights.

CLE is going to fall apart -- it's in their DNA.

SEA is going to fold because they've been pretenders all season anyways.

The Yanks will be better off than both of those teams because they will have a strong rotation when Hughes comes back.

Not so much worried about the AL East race, but the WC is a good possibility.

CLE, DET, and MIN will beat up on each other and all have a tougher schedule than the Yanks.

And I hope it happens that way Viper. But, they gotta play better than tonight.

It is not looking good. These guys just don't know how to execute the "little things" called fundamentals that win close games. Several times they have had a runner on 3B and less than 2 outs and can't score. Jeter chokes, Abreu chokes, Phillips hits into DP, etc.

Mr. Melky should be sitting tomorrow until he decides to hustle! See Bronx Is Burning - Reggie Jackson dog it = Billy jerks him from the game. Real leaders get their message across on how you play the game and what is expected. JT just slumbers away.

Still waiting for the JT lovers to explain it to me???

How did Giambi do in his rehab start?

Rick

How did Huston Street do in his?

YOU SANDBAGGED ME!!! HAH

Doesn't matter it was over for me in week 4 of the BBB...

GOod luck

PTRS

What does that mean? What's up with Street? He's supposed to be back now. Heck, Giambi is still rehabbing, that's why I asked how it went. I need him to get back! Besides, you proposed the deal to me, remember?

Rick...

RAAAAAALAAAAAXX!!!

I was joking sir!!

I don't know #hit about Giambi's rehab all I know is Street is now "Risky" according to all the analysts. Yes I made the prop and it was a desperation move and I knew I was already doomed so please chill man.

It was just a joke

Michael

OK, I do try to deal fair and square though. Sure would appreciate if you could help me out before the trade deadline that's coming soon. I would like to "beef up" before the playoffs start. If you would help me out, I would be willing to share the glory with you IF I were to win the darn thing!

It's funny reading these posts the next morning upon knowing the score. The Yankees did look lifeless last night, so I also had the same feeling as many of you that they were going to lose because of that.

Other observations:

Jeter hasn't been playing well lately, and I'm thinking it's either because he's injured from being hit by the pitch the other night or he's harboring a bit of A-Rod envy (not sure which). Maybe it's just a coincidence.

Posada hasn't been playing well since Molina arrived.

A-Rod is probably distracted by this whole 500 milestone business. The Ceremonious Changing of the Ball is bugging the hell out of me and it's probably distracting him to some degree. A-Rod, please get that 500 home run so we can move on.

Damon is starting to hit, coinciding with the trade rumors.

Proctor looks very upset and is not pitching very well, coinciding with the trade rumors.

Cano, Melky & Phillps, the non-vets, are playing very well. Maybe that's a sign we should be using Duncan as DH, placing Damon in the field and giving Abreu or Matsui a rest. It's a shame Duncan can't field.

Finally, what's up with this version of the Yankees that they can't hit left-handed pitchers? Is it because we have too many left-handed batters? Are there any other teams that have the same problem to the same degree as the Yankees? I don't remember this being an issue with any other Yankee team before this year (well, at least during my modest 10-year obsession).

"Hughes is coming back so we will have a strong rotation" It is this koolaid mentality that shows a distinct lack of knowledge. You beleive that the Yanks hopes for a pennant race rely on an unproven rookie pitcher who has 1 or 2 starts in the bigs? ALl you guys can talk about is how great Hughes is and he has done NOTHING yet in his Big league career. A rookie in the midst of a pennat race if you can even call the Yanks position now a pennant race. SInce the ALlstar Break they have beaten up on the lower tier (which they should) and have gained what? Almost in the same position as when the streak began and in August they will be playing Det, Cleve, Bos and LA. By the ed of August they will probably be out of any race.

MSG,

You sound like you don’t have a clue what you’re talking about. Getting Igawa out of the rotation and inserting Hughes in his place is a major upgrade in itself.

Do I expect him to pitch like Cy Young?

No.

But, it’s funny how every expert who has an eye for young baseball talent thinks this kid is eventually going to be a stud. I’d like you to tell me what other rotation in the league have pitchers like Moose and Hughes in the #4 and #5 slots?

The answer is very few. Probably the Tigers and Angels and that’s about it. I don’t expect Hughes to be lights out, but I do expect him to be a lot better than anyone else they’ve had in that slot all season.

The strength of a starting rotation isn’t measured by your #1 and #2 starters. It is measured by how good your #4 and #5 guys are and I would bet you that you won’t find very may rotations in either league whose #4-5 have the success or raw talent that the Yanks’ do.

The Yanks won during the 90s because their rotation was better than everyone else’s and were able to throw out a quality arm almost every night.

Sounds to me like you’re the one with the general lack of knowledge about baseball.

The reason why this team hasn’t won in recent years is because of their pitching. Plain and simple.

Nice way to play the game on paper, msg4ever. You can win loads of World Series Championships that way. It's unfortunate for you that the rest of the world doesn't play by those useless rules.
