Here are some tidbits researched on how various Yankees have done this year with runners in scoring position. Some of it is along the lines of what one would think based on watching games with one's own eyes (Cabrera, Cano). Anyway, it's fairly interesting.

Very interesting how well Giambi shows in this table! Many on here hate this guy, but he is a Git-R-Done guy and he can play for me anytime. Also, Josh Phelps numbers look pretty good up against many of the others that didn't get released!
Getting a righthanded "stick" with power, will have a positive "ripple" effect throughout the lineup. All it takes is 1 big bat added to the current Yankee lineup, to turn the numbers sighted above around. Things are not as "dire" as some believe, but the Yanks do need to act quickly. A long losing streak at this point of the season would be fatal. Losing 5 of the last 6 games, should sound a very loud warning to Cashman.
A long losing streak is definitely possible now. Did any of you see the schedule?
3 - O's
3 - A's
4 - Twins
3 - LAA
All Star break.
Would you guys do Cano for TEX straight up?
The Yanks would jump at that deal, but there is no way Texas would even consider Cano for Tex. straight up. It's gonna take a "package" to get Tex, and they already have Kinsler at 2nd Base.
I would package Cano with a few prospects, if word got out that he is avail teams will call. right now they are led to believe this kid is a Yankee forever the way the teams thinks of him.
How about cano melky and a prospect for Gagne and tex
That was a Joke I just tired of those two.
Time to put MAtsui on E-bay
Kat: I would like to say, thank you for the stats".
I'm sure the stats provided just confirmed for us what we thought about the situation. The Yankees will not get significatlly better unless we offer trade value. I believe Cashman will lay low and attempt to steal someone. This team is not showing enough to make a big trade to go for the brass ring, unfortunately.
Cashman wants to protect most of our pitching prospects. So expect no real influx of pennant drive personnel. I prefer to do heavy retooling over the winter when a clearer picture is present. I would trade or release in no particular order the following Farnsworth,Abreu, Damon, Nieves, Meyers, Villone, Nieves and Melky if needed in a trade. The NY mentallity does not lend for developing players which is a shame. He could be a very good OF with a decent 7/8 in the batting order. I would bring up Britton and Henn with the release of Meyers and Villone. We cannot retard their growth much longer. What message are we sending if Meyers and Villone are allowed to pitch at their present level. We will not be worse off but at least maturing our younger players plus getting to know them better. Giambi is one demension player. He actually takes two spots on the roster. In other words, he's offensive but can't run and needs to be replaced when on base and defensively the same issue.
