As the Yankees prepare to play at Coors Field, I thought a look at that ballpark might be interesting. It's been known as a hitter's ballpark to the extreme, but the past several years, that had seemed less of an issue than in the past.
This year, though, it's once again a hitter's haven, and one the Yankees' lineup will probably relish playing in.
The Rockies' ERA at home is 5.07. On the road, it's 3.78. The Rockies have scored 174 runs at home (4.83 per game). They have scored 140 runs per game on the road (or 4.24 per game). So far at least, opposing hitters are taking better advantage of the Rockies' ballpark than they themselves are.
Given that the Yankees are averaging 6.94 runs per game in June, it could be a high-powered series.

Hmmmm-Mike Mussina during an up and down year playing in a park where the altitude does funny things to the curveball at a time when his curveball is his best pitch - yeah, this could be ugly - odds he complains during his post game are at about 2:1
All things being equal. This series should be one that Mel Allen use to call, "that ball is going going gone", "how about that".
Chip,
He might not have to complain if the Yankees put up crooked numbers in the first few innings. The biggest risk is if they all try to hit the 5-run home run each time up and overswing.
Get rdy for a high scoring game. Say 7-3 Yankee victory
You have to check out this video of Manny Ramirez. VERY weird, VERY funny.

Other than playing in NYC, what exactkly have the Mets done in the last 20 years to warrent ANY comparison to the Yankees or their players? NOTHING. Any time the Mets show any sign of life, its the 'New Kings of NY Baseball' stuff. Let Wright or Reyes get a hit or make a defensive play with a championship on the line BEFORE they get compared to Jeter or Arod for that matter.
Drew:
I'm a Yankee fan, and I don't totally agree. The Yankees haven't won a championship since 2000, so I really -- really -- hate hearing the championship argument.
The Mets haven't gotten the better of the Yankees yet, but they do have a terrific team. Reyes stole -- what? -- 18 bases against the Yankees this weekend?
Now, the Red Sox are a different matter. They played last night like Chico's Bail Bonds was the official team sponsor. When they're not in Fenway where they can steal signs, they're just not the same team.
Funniest line I heard on ESPN in a while was last night - they were showing highlights of Red Sox/Braves and Edgar Renteria drove a shot up the middle and one of the Sportscenter guys said, "See, now why can't the Red Sox have a SS like that."
Andy Phillips is back!
Phelps is out!
About time I say!!!
About time to see the back of Phelps. Whether Phillips will be an answer remains to be seen. But I guess it's only a little over a month until DM will be back, so why not give it a try?
DrewBBrown - couldn't agree with you more. expecting a particular team to win the champsionship every year is often overshadows that team's particular past accomplishments.
whats the truth to phelps? phillips?
High powered by the Yankees my A$$. Back to 9 back.
LMAO,
Hey Ed...check out who has the best road record in MLB, then report back. Thank you.
