Unfortunately, A-Rod can't seem to avoid the spotlight, even when he isn't hitting 14 home runs in April or having a terrible postseason. Yesterday was example 1 and 1A, from the front page NY Post pix of him with another woman (not his wife) to his "Ha!" call against the Blue Jays that they didn't like.
Personally, I'm not sure how relevant Alex Rodriguez's marital life is to the world at large, or should be. But now that it's out there, it could easily be a distraction. He says it's not. Who knows? Regardless of what is going on in his marriage, or if something is going on and his wife knew about it, I can't imagine she was happy to see stories about him going to strip clubs with another woman.
Thoughts, anyone? Relevant or not?

Who cares what AROD or anyone does w/consenting adults whether they're married or not.I have my own life to live and am certainly not interested in the "cult of celeb" which is another in a long line of dribble Tabloids peddle each and every day.
Why don't you pose a baseball question ?
Kat-
Before you post another negative topic, why don't you focus on putting a final score of the game last night. You said when there is something positive to post then you would post and I do believe us winning 10-5 might be a tad more positive then talking about A-Rod's personal life. Keep bashing the Yanks Kat and you might just have a job lined up for you at ESPN after all.
Damn AJ, I think you're being a bit too sensitive there. If you want all "rah rah Yankees" crap, start your own blog and tell everyone they can only say positive things about the Yanks....news is news, negative or positive.
Kat: My answer is it is not relevant unless it affects his performance and if it does, the manager should handle it.
Do you want the score posted on the blog? I wrote two stories all about the game.
Kat-
Maybe he only wants the score posted when the Yanks win?
I think you did have the score wrong in your story this morning, the headline was correct but the story said 10-6 (don't tell AJ though, he'll jump on you for it)
:)
Kat-
Where on this blog did you write about Damon's 2,000 hit,Mariano's save,or Cano's solid night? All I ever see on this blog is NEGATIVE postings from you. Your good at posting when we lose in detail all about the game but when we seem to win you never post anything about the game.
Jim A-
I pose you a question...When was the last time anything on the blog was geared positive towards the Yanks by our lovely beat writer?I don't mind the negative news but when there is something positive we should talk about it like last night for example. We broke a 5 game losing streak,Melky looked good,Jorge stole 2 bases,Mariano looked good and this is the posting we have to answer to? All about A-Rod's strip club nights. That is what pisses me off. We cannot live up a win on here for more then 5 mintues without Ms. Peter Gammons bringing us down!
someone's got their angry pants on today
AJ,
If you come to the blog often then you may have noticed Kat placed very positive comment about Jeter recently. As for the general negative feeling on the blog? Did you happen to notice that despite the win our beloved Yankees are still 12.5 games out in last place? As a diehard fan it is hard for me to be positive about that, even after one win - if they win 8-10 games in a row, maybe.
AJ-
Ms. Gammons...that was funny.
I guess we're in a sensationalized media driven society and people are much more interested in the negative than the positive. Sadly, the negative is what makes news.
I don't think Kat (not to speak for you Kat, I apologize) sets out to bring down the Yankees and their fans, she simply reports on what is news. Look at the blog today and you will see that 95% of the discussion has been revolving around A-Rod's antics, it's just what people seem to want to talk about. This blog has never been one to stay on the same subject that the blog owner posts, we tend to gravitate to what is "news" and sadly, it is mostly negative. The blog is least active when the Yanks are doing positive things, it's sad but true. I'm just saying you can't blame Kat for it, she has a job to do and I doubt her editor would be pleased with all puff pieces.
You are right though, I looked for, and didn't find anything about Damon's 2,000th hit.
AJ
Settle down.
In thru the nose out thru the mouth...repeat
Jim A.
I think you handled that perfectly. Well said. News across the spectrum is predominantly negative and that's a supply and demand issue.
AJ
I do agree that some of the things you mentioned were indeed noteworthy however I don't know why your so quick to throw Kat into the Yankee hate machine.
The major Yankee news for today is not Cano/Mariano/or even our upcoming series.
For better or worse it's A-Rod. You can't blame Kat for following the most relevant news of the day.
Kat
"BLah Blah Blah"
Well done ;-)
As Keith Law said in his ESPN chat today "Baseball players go to strip clubs and cheat on their wives, I hear gravity still pulls objects towards the earth too."
It's a non-issue, well unless you are Alex, his wife, or the blond.
I just read your article, and my friends and I had a colorful conversation on this topic.
We wondered if this was a big story. I said no, but...
However, because A-Rod plays on the Yankees, he’s make $25 million per year, and he had an image of a guy who cares too much of how he is perceived in the media, and how fans look at him from home, it is.
Okay, if I were a professional athlete, I’d perhaps be a lot more careful who I am seen with (but everything is all relative).
It will be a matter of time who we find out who this blonde is, and A-Rod's life will even become more miserable.
For an athlete who has tried to carefully craft his image, he’s heading towards how Kobe Bryant is perceived amongst a good portion of fans.

What I find most disturbing about all these people who are judging A-Rod is that they are all acting like they're saintly models of society filled with pure innocence. You know the story about people in glass houses. People should learn to mind their own damned businesses and stop playing God by judging other people. A-Rod is a baseball player, not a priest. Let's get our priorities straight and focus on winning some games instead of obsessing about irrelevant extraneous diversions that really don't concern us.
ARod is a married baseball player, that is the difference. One would assume that when you get married you don't have girlfriends on the side. If he wasn't married it would be a non issue. What amazes me is that he is foolish enough to be caught with this woman. He must truly crave attention, whether it be positive or negative.
He is on the wrong track. He needs to focus on his child, his wife ... trying to overcome the world.
As the character in the film Munich said, "Once I've lost my soul that's it ... I've lost everything."
Didn't Sheff's wife has some kind of problem that was in the paper as well? In the end she became much stronger in her faith. It was a positive. God can turn any negative into a positive if we allow Him to, because He is more than great. He is good!
We all sin. Change and repentance is all that matters. You're only finished if you give up trying. And not many of us will be on the front page of the NY Post ... but the battle is the same for us all.
But no, I can't root for him if that is how he is acting.
"If the light in thine eye be darkness, how great is that darkness." Look at what Warren Buffet and Gates devote their disposable charity money to. Do you think that's some kind of accident?
The photo of A Rod may actually be the thing that puts him right again ... it is really up to him.
But if you are out at strip clubs, no real man, no real good man, will EVER respect you or trust you.

Just my two cents.
Hey I just invented a joke ...
What do you get when you cross Phil Hughes and Howard Hughes?
Answer: A-Rod.
Okay it is not great but the last joke I invented, "What's green and soars through the air?" Answer: "Super Pickel" ... well that one never really took off ... literally or otherwise. The Wright Bros. probably encountered the same problem at some point.
I was suprised!
A-Rod and Jeter are gay.
Maybe A-Rod is bi.
Huh, go figure.
A-Rod's contract is, what? $250 million?
Is it worth tens of millions of dollars in alimony to go to strip clubs with ABNHW (A blonde, not his wife)?
What's the guy thinking?
That said, when I want news about the Yankees, I go to the sports page. I let others flip to Page 6 or the gossip section.
Alex is a baseball player. His personal life is just that, personal, and has nothing to do with baseball. If his personal life affects what he does on the field, we can comment on his baseball problems, leaving his personal problems for him to solve. Too many people fall victim to media hype, accusing people of doing things they haven't seen. There have only been conjectural and circumstantial accusations against Alex.
But to the moralists I say judge not, lest ye be judged. I didn't get the memo that God died and left human beings in charge of judging fellow humans -- but then again this is a Yankees baseball forum, not www.religion.com. It's a place to discuss Yankees baseball, not the morals of potential adulterers as projected by the leaching, story-hungry, sensationalistic, biased media. It's a sad day when decent people allow these vultures to dictate their feelings & opinions.
Did anyone see the news last night where Alex and his WIFE Cynthia were walking down the street, holding hands, and smiling? Funny, though, the New York Daily News printed a story just yesterday claiming that Cynthia came storming out of their home with two suitcases and was apparently leaving Alex. Little did they know she was traveling to meet him in Boston. These vultures should be ashamed of themselves for painting an ugly picture they themselves can only relate to. It speaks volumes about the state of their own morality.
Kobe's wife called her and said whoah Honey wait until AFTER he signs his next contract.
Honestly I guarantee you she already knows whats up
well said Lucy!
Thank you, Casual.
Anonymous, the Yankees have enough to worry about without trying to read Cynthia's mind. We're too busy trying to predict whether or not we are going to see October baseball and trying to figure out why we keep suffering from so many injuries. The Yankees just wish their only "problem" was figuring out the motives and intentions of Cynthia Rodriguez. My only regret is that I didn't notice the color of Cynthia's nail polish, since that's just as significant as her mindset regarding her future plans with Alex.
