Five Things I Learned from this Weekend Series against Boston Redsox
1) Lhp Specialist Hideki Okajima was used By Francona as Boston closer when Papelbon isn't available in big spot against Yankees lineup.
Abreu, Giambi ,Arod and Cano
Next Time when Yankees faced Okajima, and Francona will used him as Redsox closer when Papelbon isn't available and ready to pitch
2)Boston Redsox also likes to play small ball as their part of their offense. Back to Back Bunts from Coco Crisp and Joey Cora off Jeff Karstens .The slowed reaction from Karstens and fielding the groundball from Crisp and Cora. It seems Karstens was clueless which base to throw to
3)The Bullpen Management by Joe and his ingame strategy still question mark. He replaced Giambi's bat and pinched run for Kevin Thompson. Joe made a mistake By putting Mariano in 8th rather than sticking with Proctor or calling Bruney or Farnsworth from the pen. Never Trust Mike Myers in big spot against his former team especially Big Papi. Myers who gave up double to Ortiz. I have more faith than Sean henn and Mike Myers.
4) Jason Giambi's still looking at that pitched down away and 0 homeruns against the Redsox. Giambi's still clueless at the plate, The thing I noticed Redsox pitchers are pitching him down away.
5) The Yankees Offense did their part scoring runs against Schilling and Beckett in this series. Lastly, Doug Mienkrap are batting .128 so far this season.
Man, I can't wait when Torre is gone after this season. I can only hope Donnie Baseball is a better in-game manager than Torre.
Torre panicked in the 8th and cost us a win in the first game of this series.
This lineup we're putting out there is horrific. Look at that bottom third. Mientkiewicz should never be hitting 7th. Honestly, Torre's loyalty to him is getting crazy already. What does it take for Phelps to play 1st? Melky looks like he belongs in Scranton and I had a bad feeling before the season started he'll be a victim of the sophmore slump. Nives is the definiton of ann automatic out.
Thankfully, we'll be getting healthier with Matsui and Wang coming back, and hopefully Mussina, too.
Typically, I watch the games on the 36" tv I have in my home office...where my computer is. I have HDTV in my living room, but I cannot get NESN in HD...so it doesnt really mattter. Tonight the game is on ESPN, of course, adn I do get that in HD. I gonna go watch the game in HD. I was a late bloomer to HDTV...typical stubborn Mainer...but I am absolutely amazed at the quality of HDTV.
Anyway, that's my rant on HD...enjoy the game tonight folks.
interesting start (1 inning). dice k seems more rattled than wright. wright is just a young glavine! almost same action on his change up, with one big difference - he isn't getting the calls on the outside corner that glavine gets...
I agree with you Jeff on your assessment of Torre.
The man is a detriment to the Yankees not a help.
His moves often works against them, not for.
Back to the game, Chase Wright just worked out of a two men on, no outs with Ortiz and Ramirez coming up.
That is guts. This guy is a keeper.
