great stuff by proctor. last year he was all about the fastball. he got both lugo & youk confused by starting the off speed (beautiful slider to youk), and both popped out. very encouraging!

i have been writing constantly over the last couple of weeks that the sox greatest advantage is the bullpen because of papelbon who is amazingly lights out.
for some reason, every newspaper gave the yanks the advantage. oh well...

it's the first time i saw vizcaino - he's got nothing. and i know no one wants to admit it, but just look at mo. one of the worst innings of baseball i've seen by a bullpen.

let's not even talk about myers waste of roster space.

awful game, really the one the yanks should have had, and could have had. great start by petitte - wasted, 2 HR's by a-rod - wasted.
i know that there will be tons of no panic posts, but the fact is that nothing was fixed in the bullpen (gave up 4 runs yesterday + blew a save, 5 runs today + blown save), torre is still a terrible in-game manager, and the most alarming, could age have caught up with mo?

Vizcaino isn't impressing me at all and Myers can't seem to get through an outing without putting runners on base. I'm going to go barf and try to get some sleep.

Mo has given me some concern. I looked at the hits off him and they certainly weren't tatooed. But he's missing badly (for him) and the cutter doesn't have that sharp movement. Maybe its the way he's been used this year. His location is just not there yet.
So much for Torre's promise to use him "one inning at a time"!

The fact that what seems to be doing Mo in is his control more than anything gives me some comfort that he'll be okay. Remember, he didn't pitch a whole lot until they got to Oakland and then sat again during the Cleveland series for the most part.
Henn was probably unavailable because he pitched last night? I have no idea. I'm hating life right now.

Some questionable calls from JT i believe may have costed us the game. Why pinch run for Giambi when the game is NOT OVER! Why bring in Myers when Proctor was just FINE! Why take Andy P out When all he needed was two more to complete the frame and just have Proctor start the 8TH! He was on 100 pitches, not 115!!!

P.S. Has anyone lost there voice by cursing the baseball Gods for that last inning and also punched 5 inch holes into ur wall as i did?!?!?!

Also, what if Thompson did get on and then Phelps hit for Nieves and he got a hit to tie the game or give us the lead??? Who's going to Catch the rest of the game since Nieves would be out then???

NEWSFLASH: Emotions and ego aside, this was Game 15 and just ONE regular game of a long season. If we lost last night's game in the same fashion to last place Kansas City, we probably wouldn't feel as bad and become as panicky. Losing a game to Boston doesn't translate into the Yankees inability to win the World Series and a guarantee for the Red Sox. If Boston sweeps us and takes a huge lead in the standings, then we'll have greater incentive to beat the next teams we face. It remains to be seen if Boston can keep up such tremendous drive and enthusiasm against other teams who don't have an interlocking NY across their chests, especially outside of Fenway.

1. Can someone for the life of me explain why in the world does Torre PR Giambi when he's the DH at Fenway when no lead is safe?!? There is no logical reason to do this. You knew A-Rod was gonna get another AB, and with Giambi not protecting him, he might not get anything good to hit.

2. Why did Torre not PH Thompson, who never should've been in the game in the first place, in nthe 9th? You lose with your best, which should've been Phelps. Torre made a problem he created, worse.

3. Why use Vizcaino, who was awful the game before and looks clearly overworked>

4. Why take Proctor out so early when he looked great the inning before?

5. Why didn't Mientkiewicz guard the line in the 8th?

6. This one is debatable, I'll admit, but I don't like briging in Mo in the 8th. Torre said all the time he wouldn't do it, and he went against his word. Torre shoul'dve given Mo an inning or two in the Cleveland series, even in the blowouts. He needs work.

Horrible loss, which should not have happened. Torre panicked, plain and simple. Pettitte gets robbed of another win and A-Rod's great performance gets wasted in a loss.

We better get a win today. If we don't, odds say we'll be swept.

What Say Kay, as far as the Cleveland game, Yankees fans were celebrating a come-back win, period; they weren't celebrating because it was against Cleveland. Of course, Red Sox fans should celebrate every win, but they shouldn't come to a Yankees' Forum gloating and acting like they've won the World Series vs. the Yankees in April. It appears they are celebrating beating the Yankees, not winning a game. See the difference?
