Darrell Rasner will begin the season as the fifth starter. He said: "I just got the good news."
The Yankees have asked Ron Villone to consider going to Triple-A. Otherwise, he can take his leave and go to free agency. Said Villone: "I've got to make a decision, and I haven't made that yet."
Carl Pavano is excited (wouldn't anyone be?) to start Opening Day. Said Pavano: "That's a pretty good day, right?"
He said he's planning to head over to Himes to watch Andy Pettitte throw now, which is where all of us are headed. There will be no updates on Pettitte (or Mike Mussina), as there is no internet access there. It's outside.

DFW becoming a springboard
First Ben Shpigel, now Kat. We are so bush league, baby. Now we are a silly little inconsequential farm for their journalists, too.
I was reading a pretty pedestrian article about Zito in Esquire last week, alot of bulls**t, alot of nothing filler cliches, when I stumbled across this annoying little comment, paraphrased:
He spent a night having dinner with Tom Hicks, who busied himself trying to convince Zito that Dallas is not an overgrown cowpoke outpost, which it is.
The reason I paraphrased that quote? I googled Zito Esquire Dallas. After page 6, I could still only come up w/ outrage from Mets fans over BZ's diss of their leadership. Not a word about the cowpoke outpost.
Us Texans be ignant, bakwardsass fellers ...
A lot of people make Dallas-Fort Worth out to be a lot different than it actually is, hence lines like that in an article. It's a huge metropolitan area with tons to offer. Working there was great. New York will be great as well.
