« Rasner 5th starter, Villone undecided | Main | Lineup -- last game of spring training! »

final roster decisions

Darrell Rasner will be the fifth starter, at least initially.
Brian Bruney got the last bullpen spot.
Ron Villone has not yet told the Yankees if he will go to Triple-A or opt for free agency.

Andy Pettitte and Mike Mussina both pitched in minor league games and felt fine. Pettitte will pitch Wednesday and Mussina Thursday.

Good news all around I guess. I would assume Villone would take the minor league assignment considering no other teams made an attempt to sign him before he accepted the invitation to the Yankees ST. I like having the insurance in case Henn totally flops (or Myers too).
Although you would have to think the Phillies would be interested.

The only way Villone can get a ML contract and be added to a ML roster is to perform well.I doubt any team is going to open a spot on their pitching staff to a guy who showed very little in ST...especially a "contender". It's best for him to accept assignment at Triple A Scranton ,show that he can still get hitters out ,then he will regain interest from another club ,making him marketable from the Yanks standpoint or a fall back guy if one of the Yanks lefty relievers are injured or not up to snuff...

ANDY YOUR ONE OF THE FEW IN HERE THAT KNOWS WHAT THE HELL HE'S TALKING ABOUT.

I TRIED TO SPIN A LITTLE HUMOR WITH MY COMMENTS BUT THESE NERDS LIVE IN THEIR OWN LITTLE WORLD. THEY LIKE TO RIDICULE OTHERS BUT THEY CAN'T TAKE A JOKE.

The roster we go to war with to start the season is acceptable but Brian Cashman as always, will upgrade wherever he finds the need or the player to fit it whether it's in the farm system or through a deal. This team has depth it hasn't seen in a few years.

Boy you call that humor ?

Yankees announced Andy Phillips cleared waivers and was sent outright to Scranton.
