Jim B. My gut feeling is the Yanks won't sign Lilly, and if Pettitte continues to vaccilate the Yanks could turn elsewhere....Mulder ?
I don't think Cashman will sign either Pettitte or Lilly, as that would add to the team payroll and increase our luxury tax. We will get a starting pitcher thru trade and lower the team payroll at the same time. Cash is just trying to make the team he wants to get a pitcher from, believe we have the option of signing a free agent pitcher if they dally, or bargain to hard.
I think Zito will be a Yankee. I think he will wait till the last min just as Beltran did in 2005 then take a salary of 13-14 mil a year
Here's the way I see it for 2007:
Wang, Pettite, Mussina, Lilly, and Johnson/ Igawa.
I'll take my chances with that mix to go along with our offense.
