Newsday's Ken Davidoff spoke with Joe Girardi last night before Game 3 and this is what the former Yankees catcher said about where he may work next season:
"I've talked to some about managing opportunities. I've talked about some broadcasting opportunities," he said. "But I have not talked to the Yankees about coaching." Asked whether he would consider such a job, Girardi responded, "Until someone approaches me, I don't even think about those kinds of opportunities."
I spoke with Lee Mazzilli last night and he said he had not heard anything and insisted he wasn't worried for his job. As for Girardi, I'm simply reading between the lines in his quotes, but it sure sounds as if he is weighing the merits of television jobs that offer him more family time or more time-consuming coaching gigs. We'll know soon.

I caught alot of flack yesterday regarding my pitching lineup next year and I will like to clear it up. One user stated that hughes is still too young to pitch, ok I'll give you that hopefully he can come up in JULY. As for MOOSE listen I like the guy but come on he should have taking care of the lead during game two but couldn't! he's just not the same pitcher he was and I wouldn't want him back.. HONESTLY everyone is talking about the big three this year in FA in terms of ZITO, SCHMIDT and The japanese pitcher. But no one is talking about Buerhle (White SOX) he is also a FA or if not his option might not get picked up thus leaving him availiable. I know he has logged alot of innings these past three years but SO has SCHMIDT and hes 35 and the japanese guy as well who by the way is asking for at least 18 to 20 million just to talk to the guy and even worse his agent is BORAS (YIKES!!!) PLUS he also has logged alot of hours the past 3 year. It wouldn't hurt just to see what Buerhle is asking for you ? And lastly, I was told my lineup doesn't have that much experience granted what I'm about to say is far fetch.. but you know the detroit pitchers as well didn't have that much experience and look at them.. BESIDES we need to get younger and not older.
P.S: Karstens will not be the arron small of this year in 2007.
My adjusted staff:
1.WANG
2.BUERHLE (thats if he is cheap and not expecting too many years)
3.Kennedy (i still like this kid I hope he does well in winter ball) or Karstens
4.JOHNSON (he is this low because HE SUX!!! not the same anymore)
5.???? (depends on who we get by trading SHEFF which the yanks picked up his option and has power to pick up a decent picther)
I almost forgot somethings, I know my rotation will not be able to win more than 90 games, but come on guys the last couple of WORLD SERIES was won by wild card contending teams and as the look of it LIRIANO might have tommy john surgery (it was posted today) if so that will GREATLY hurt the twins chances next year, so the wild card can be up for grabs. The White Sox look tired (expect BUERHLE..LOL) and I can't stress this enough we must go young. Lets see what we can do to work with this rotation. AND finally PAVANO FREAKIN BLOWS, he sucks and should be traded he lost all the faith in his teammates and the fans. WHY Would you want him in the rotation anyway?
giradi who does he think he is he is a nobody.he should take the national job and shut up
BOB, who do you think you are? Let me help, you are a clown. Shut it.
Chris:
You dealt with the comments well. Its nice to see a mature attitude on the blog.
You could be right but NY Yankee braintrust will not adopt all of your package. I see Wang, Mussina, Rasner, FA and Pavano or Johnson and Hughes to finish off for some injured party. There will be an injury. The pitching will get younger. Karstens maybe long relief or spot starter.
Buerhle needs to regroup. We do need a lefty because RJ could be done.
