Here's mine: Yankees beat Tigers in four.

Agree - Yanks in for - better 1st round opponent than the Twins

I was tempted to say sweep but that's eight straight losses for Detroit. It's possible, as they are freefalling, but I think they will rebound for one win. Still, it's very tempting to say sweep. And I just don't see any way they win the series, even if Randy isn't able to pitch.

Sweep.

What's Detroit's rotation for the series?

rotation

Robertson vs Wang
Verlander vs Moose
Rogers vs RJ
Bonderman vs Wright
Robertson vs Wang

Yanks in 3 .

Yanks in 4 over Tigers.

Like Jim, I was also tempted to say the Yanks would sweep the series for the very same reasons he suggested. I also have a hard time believing the Tigers – who had the best record in baseball all season until Sept – will finish the season with 8-straight losses, including the last five games of the regular season against Toronto and KC in their own yard.

I can see the Tigers miraculously stealing a game at Yankee Stadium (perhaps Game 1) and the ridiculous naysayers within Yankee Nation will quickly pounce on it and predict the sky is falling (you know who you are!).

However, if the Yanks win the first 2 games at The Stadium, they will go for the kill with RJ on the mound in Game 3 at DET and drive the proverbial stake through their collective hearts, sweeping the series.

The tiggers are coming in tight. Thier pitchers will need to throw the games of their lives every night and some are rookies. Kenny Rogers gets taken out to the woodshed by NY every single time. They better not need him to get the W in game three to stay alive or the brooms will be flying. I say Yanks in four, but I think a sweep is a 70% chance reality. So cool not to get Johan in a 5 game series and the rest of that rotation is getting knocked around some. I think Oakland will be tough, so go Twinkies.

It just figures that Rodgers won't pitch at Yankee Stadium. The AL All-Star starter won't go until Game 3? It shows you that Kenny Rodgers is being protected.

Yankees in 3.

If Detroit becomes a paper tiger in the first two games, Kenny Rogers will fold 'em and walk away in Game 3 !

Yanks in 5,do not like 3/4 game match ups but any of them can blow up in your face.

I like the Yanks in 5 games. The Randy question looms large. If we take the 1st 2 games, Torre may push Randy back to starting in game 4, or just start Wright and Lidle in games 3 and 4, and not use Randy at all. Torre will do everything he can to let Randy heal and save him for the Championship Series, even if that means possibly giving away games 3 and 4.

Ome again, Moose gets the toughest match-up. I like the Yankees in four, too. I think the Yankees will lose one of two in NY. I hope I'm wrong.

All Yankees titles tained - juice using freaks

Just want to bring up what Roy said I think it might be inconceivable of Joe to not allow randy to pitch on the 3rd game. If there up two games (the Yanks) he will try to solidify it with randy going in. I don't think he would like to take a chance and have the tigers to come back.

Detroit lacks big game experience and showed it big time against the Royals. They have some pitching but clutch bats are almost non-existent. These young Tigers will be in awe of all the history of Yankee Stadium and go home quietly.

Good news for those of us who have no cable TV.

The Tuesday game will be on FOX.

ONLY for those with no cable TV. Otherwise, baseball coverage on Fox is hardly good news.

Yankees in 4. Detroit's been running out of gas for weeks. Biggest thing in the Tigers' favor is Leyland.

I can't wait to see the faces of the Yankee fans when the Tigers kick your butts. Pitching and defense--remember that. The Pinstripe Pansies suck.

Money-money-money, that's all you hear. The fact is George has it and spends it to give his team the best possible chance to compete every year. True, too many Yankees are overpaid but they're still human beings like any other team has. It comes down to how they're motivated and even though they had a mostly successful year, there were too many times they looked flat and without motivation. In Joe Torre's time he's been protective of his players. Maybe it's time they faced up to things with more accountability.

It should be clear as a bell by now that this team needs to put full focus on the one glaring weakness that's been around for the last 4 years - - PITCHING.
A team can slug their way around for a 162 game season and get away with a lot of it but when it come to the post season pitching usually prevails. True, the Yankee bats were quiet for the Tiger series but that's the point. They had better pitching. The 1st 3 games the Tigers didn't have exactly booming bats but good Yankee pitching would have made the difference. Once the managerial decision is made, the 1st order of business should be strong pitching.

Looks David just slew Goliath! The big bucks don't translate into big hearts. Detroit had em this week. I think losing the AL Central was the best thing to happen to the Tigers.
Pain of not under achieving it is tough to take.
Go Tigers!
