Cory Lidle dies

Just got off the phone with Cory's agent, Jordan Feagan, who had just heard from the Yankees that Cory was in fact on the plane that crashed in Manhattan today. He was breaking up, understandably, having worked with Cory for about a decade. "He just wasn't my client. Probably my closest friend." He then asked to leave the phone call because he had to get in touch with Cory's wife. So sad, so sad.

OMG.

Condolences to his family.

I am so saddened by this. I just heard about it. My prayers are with his family and his fellow teamates. I love the Yankees and Cory was a great pitcher. I am so sorry.

VERY SAD!!! What a sad start to the 8pm(EST) baseball start tonite.....a dark day in sports and MLB.

God Bless the Lidle family. So sad. What a tragedy.

Cory Lidle cared about nobody but himself, what an irony after he trashes everyone. I guess he cannot give any moronic interviews anymore. I will not miss him. That is honesty folks.
I will not miss him next year.
Sorry but he was a jerk.

My prayers go out to his wife and son. It is a sad day.

First of all, I would like to say to his wife, I am deeply sorry and I will say a prayer for her. This once again reinforces my motto to live one day at a time and live each day as if it were my last. I have learned this the hard way but what a difference it makes in life by doing that. May God comfort Mr. Lidle's wife, family and friends.

So very sad. My heart is breaking for his wife and 6 year old son who now will grow up without his Daddy

I would much rather be writing about rotations, lineups and trades. How very sad.

If anyone close to the Yankees or Cory reads this, you are in my thoughts!

Very sad indeed - I hope that the people who experienced the entire situation first-hand are able to find peace. I hope his family finds solace in the fact that more people weren't injured.

God bless Cory, his family, and the New York Yankees. My prayers are with them.

So sad. We'll never know how good he may have become once he got used to playing in NY. Love and prayers to his family.

Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to the Lidle family for their loss.

Just want to send condolences to the Lidle family and to the city of New York. May God watch over all of you.

So Sad... my heart breaks for his family!

How terrible. Reminds you that when all is said and done, baseball is just a game. Something like this is the REAL tragedy of the Yankees' season.

I was crying when i heard this.. it's terrible and it's horrible that it added onto them not going to the series... That yankees are still the best ever.
:'(

Hey Trish Newell: Cory was a great pitcher? With an 82-72 lifetime record and a 4.57 ERA? Hey sweetie, let's not let emotion get in the way of the truth. Yeah, it's tragic that the dumbass flew a plane into a building, but he threw his ex-Phillies teammates under a bus, he threw the Yankees and Joe Torre under a bus, and he was AT BEST a mediocre pitcher to boot. Seems like karma threw HIM under a bus!

Mr. "Calling a spade a spade" you are a disgusting, despicable human being, and it doesn't surprise me that someone as disgusting as you is too cowardly to sign his own name to his own filth.

My thoughts, prays go out to the family of Cory Lidle. May god look over his wife and child.

This is a very tragic day. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. He once put on the pinstripes and even though it wasn't long he was a part of Yankeeland.

wow I haven't heard that heywood shtick since 8th grade...way to bring it back...ESPN isn't moving on because it is a sad thing that just happened 2 days ago...if they have been doing it for 2 weeks then i would understand, but it just happened...when the baseball community, players, and fans stop thinking about it then it will stop getting airtime...so i guess no one still thinks about Munson huh?
