Wang Rating
Since June 3, Chien-Ming Wang is 8-2 with a save and a 2.41 ERA in 11 starts and one relief appearance. He's won five straight starts and hasn't allowed a run in 18 innings. And during this scoreless streak, he has retired 36 of the 54 outs with grounders.
He's been on such a great run for two months, why can't he do it for two more? And if he continues, it won't be long before you start hearing his name in Cy Young talks.
It sounds crazy, but look at the recent stats. Right now he is the Yankees' ace.

oh yes, Amazing Wang!!!
Thank godness the Yankees didn't trade him.
What explains the disparity between his home and road splits?
That's right Arch.
It was injuries to the pitching staff last year that prevented the Yankees from trading him, otherwise it would have been sayonara to Wang.
Sometimes injuries are a good thing. Look at Matsui and Cabrera.
^ That was me. Forgot to type in my name.
Wang rating is 4.0 which equates to a pleasure to watch. I hope Mr. Hughes can bring some of this to the table next year around trading deadline. This is when I believe the yanks may need him. I can not believe Wright or Johnson will continue to give us their present performances. Let us not forget its all about the pitching.
Getting ahead of myself a little bit here... But if the Yanks DO manage to get into the playoffs, does Wang start game one? I'd argue for a playoff setup of Wang going 1, Johnson 2, and then Moose starting the third game because he's always been solid on the road. I'd say Johnson would be 3 but Joe Torre always says that's the pivotal game in any series, so I'd stick Moose there b/c he's more reliable. (This is all assuming we have homefield advantage. If we start on the road, I'd argue for a 1 Moose, 2 Johnson, 3 Wang scenario.)
Wang is surely one of the top 5 pitchers in the AL right now. But it's the bullpen that will decide "if" and "how far" we go toward winning another Championship.
Wang has the poise of a someone who has been playing for 10-15. I can not wait to see him face Beckett or Schilling this month in Fenway.
Wang is so good...im glad cash is at the helm now or wang would have been gone...it is going to be scary next year when our rotation is johnson, moose, wang, zito and hughes...ouch
and i am so glad abreu is a yankee...i was at the game on tuesday and it was so cool to already see abreu t-shirts being sported by the fans..."Lets go Bobby"
and thank god the old a-rod is back...i knew he'd come back but what a great time for him to get his groove back...hopefully he can keep this going to the playoffs...all the a-rod booers need to go back and bury your heads in the sand...bandwagon fans
I don't want RJ pitching twice in a playoff series (if possible), and I fear that his back will lock up on a cold, damp night in October in the northeast. Consequently, no way I'd pitch him anything but 3rd.
I am certain Torre goes w/ Randy first in the playoffs...bc he is Randy Johnson and that's what Torre does.
If the Yanks have home field..then heck yes Wang at 1 or 2..If it's on the road, save him for game 3 and cross your fingers the the Unit and his horrific DS stats don't show up this year.
We haven't won a playoff spot yet! Lets play one game at a time.
So we can only talk about this afternoon's game until 7pm tomorrow?
C'mon Larry...Just wishful thinking.
To Luke:
I'll lighten up and agree that Wang has earned NO.1. RJ is No.3 at best.
Larry, I agree with you about Hughes.
The Yankees don't give you much time to show what you've got and so in order for him to stay around, without being trade bait, he needs to be pitch well from the get go, like Wang.
Prospects that take a little more time to get going will have a hard time staying with the Yankees.
Hughes should be promoted to AAA now.
This can't be said enough:
Everybody Wang Chung Tonight!
how much does he make? salary???
He makes 353,175. It's really "cheap" compare to other SP. But this is only his second year in MLB. Anyway, this guy is amazing. Let's go Yankee and Wang!
