Worst signing ever?

whoops.jpgIf you could say something to Carl Pavano, what would it be? And remember, we're a family-oriented blog here. So keep it clean, fellas!

***

And for those wondering about how Pavano feels ... He admitted on yesterday's conference call he made a bad decision and feels bad about that, but he doesn't plan to apologize to his teammates. Which is funny when you think about this:

Hideki Matsui, ever the gamer, issued a public apology after breaking his wrist.

And even Kevin Brown apologized to his teammates for breaking his hand by punching the wall outside Joe Torre's office. His words were brief and he was said to be very uncomfortable, but he did what he had to do, and within seconds Derek Jeter and Jorge Posada both spoke up with quick encouraging phrases to the whole team.

Yet Pavano says, no, thanks.

pavano's image can only be restored by his return next week as an effective No. 4 starter who performs well in the playoffs. otherwise, he will maintain his lead in the race for "worse free agent signing ever." it's all on him. i don't care if he apologizes or not. matsui didn't need to. kevin brown doesn't matter. i erased him from my memory bank.

If I had a close relationship with Carl Pavano. I would have to appeal to his pride. Your name is on a 40 million contract which you signed in good faith with the NY Yankees. There are 2 years left, now honor it or get out of baseball but stop taking the money and claiming injuries. There isn't a Yankee pitcher or starter who has not played with injuries all year. Its time to accept responsibity for youself.

Personnaly, I would try and get rid of the bum and re-coop some money to sign a real pitcher.

Pavano completes the Yankee trifecta of Kevin Brown and Jared Wright, former NationaL League pitchers unable to compete in the American League...Pavano owes it to the Yankees and his teammates to accept responsibility for letting them down !

To Carl Pavano, I'd say:

"See this guy, Chien-Ming Wang? He's about to win the Cy Young award and he makes less than your Porsche was worth, before you wrecked it.

"And one more thing. At least Ed Whitson had the guts to take the ball every five days."

I'd tell him tomorrow's the first day of the rest of your life. Make it count for something.

Pavano is the biggest coward I ever saw.
I suspect some of his family members and close friends been trolling around internet forum and message board defending that headcase.

arch: don't talk about my long-lost identical twin that way!

A scrub pitcher who had one good year cashes in courtesy of the spending-happy Yankees. What's there not to love about that? Hell, if I was Pavano I wouldn't apologize either. I would laugh all the way to the bank. He's never earned his pinstripes, and he never will. His image cannot be restored.

I would not say a word. I would just keep walking.

I would say, and this is to be kind, "Perhaps you should give some of the money back to the Yankees?"

I mean he was on the DL because he fell down and hurt his hiney?

I had to still to my work when I had malaria in Laos and Cambodia, when I tore the miniscus of my knee, when I had food poisoning in Thailand ... so many weeks there was little or no sleep ... I had a concussion in Nepal in the Himalayas ... but I always thought it was a part of a great adventure overseas as a journalist.

Scorpions, cobras, savage storms in the South China Sea, crazy taxi drivers, criminals, going through Lebanon ... it was all part of the excitement.

I would be the first to say I am not a fireman running into a burning building, or a coal miner ... I consider my life and career to be fun and exciting despite the risks and discomforts.

Yet Carl seems to be the antithesis of esprit de corps. To be a Yankee is an honor. To take so many millions two years in a row for doing nothing is a bit of a disgrace.

My late uncle Joe helped build the Burma Road during World War II. I don't think an injured buttock would have put him on the DL.

Sorry Carl, time to cowboy up!

Jaret Wright at least has some heart. He was hurt and pitched through it. His teammates have respect but absolutely none for Pavano. Recoop as much loss as possible but the uniform of the Yankees should never be worn by Pavano EVER again. Sorry history.

GO YANKS
