Carl Pavano's 14-month stint on the DL may not be coming to an end so soon. He has a right ribcage injury that he is getting checked out tomorrrow. Given his history, there's no reason to feel anything but pessimism. So much for the booing debate.

guess the jaret wright era ain't over yet. although this karstens kid does throw strikes.
Serves the Yankees right.
This is what you get when you are always in love with other people's aging veterans.
Randy Johnson or Kevin Brown anyone?
The Wright era may not have written its final chapter. At least Pavano would be a great comeback of the year award candidate for 2007 IF he's back and plays well.
Holy crap....!
That one is a low blow. Even I have to concede that one. Maybe he is Ed Whitson and Don Gullet mixed together.
Matt Clement and David Wells anyone?
Derek Lowe and Greg Maddox anyone?
Kenny Rogers anyone?
Pedro Martinez and El Duque anyone?
Tim Hudson? Eddie Guardado? Todd Jones? Bob Wickman? Livan Hernandez anyone? It is the nature of the beast.
ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah
This guy is a hypo-Its constantly one thing after another with him. I thought the butt injury was bad, but to deem yourself ready the one day and the next having to go see a DR. Read on the net that some players were overheard in the clubhouse badmouthing him-Just to think this guy once dated one of the greatest pieces of ass in the world-Allysa Milano-How the mighty have fallen.
By my calculations, he only has about 45 more body parts to injure.
I told you that the only thing he would be pitching in Sept. would be horseshoes.
absolutely unbelievable! what is he 90?
This guy is more of an injury risk than my kid on his scooter. Carl Pavano bruises like ripe fruit. Maybe Gene Monahan needs to take him out back behind the Stadium and put a bullet in him already. Quick, someone give Britt Burns or Mike Witt a call!
I just wish over the offseason they would get rid of wright, pavano, randy, all the dead weight in the bullpen, and start over. i hope our starting 5 next season is Zito, Moose, Matsuzaka, Wang, and Hughes...put kartstens in the bullpen, with clippard, burney, procter, and the great one Mo.
What good black pitchers ? Dontrelle or Dontrelle.
Thank god for an off day and a return home. I feel tired watching these guys. They must be down to the bone. I hope sleeping at home tonight does them all good especially Arod needs some hugs right about now. I bet we blow the Tiggers doors off.
Carl Pavano is a disgrace. I really thought his signing was a good thing at the time. He was under 35 and seemed to be a winner. For all the well deserved flack Jaret Wright takes (I'm not sure who's less intelligent with a baseball in his hand, Jaret or Josh Beckett), at least he shows up and competes. Wright looks like Brad Radke compared to Pavano. He's got no fire. None. I'm sure he'll perform lights out for the next team he plays for (I only pray we can dump his ass in the off season), but he's shown me absolutely nothing in two years. Where is the slug that shut the Yankees down in Game Four of the 2003 World Series outdueling Roger Clemens in the process? The three year anniversary of the only game he's ever pitched that mattered will be here October 22nd. Hopefully he won't be on the playoff roster and we can proceed without him going forward. We'd have been better off keeping Andy Pettitte even with his lost season a year ago. That guy seems to have lost the fire too. Rocket won't be around next year (in Houston anyway) so why not lure him back? I figure Matsuzaka is a definite now. Johnson is just hanging on and there's no guarantee Mussina will want to resign here after we pick up his option either. It's got to be Matsuzaka, Hughes, and Wang or bust now. How can Pavano even face these guys again after mailing it in this year? I wish I could take a $10M dollar vacation. A-Rod is a lightning rod for everything that ails us these days, but at least he's out there. We're probably still paying Tony Womack for Chrissakes. I wish we could trade all these ne'er do wells to the worst team in the NL tomorrow and get some hungry hearts. How can Johnson take the mound night after night knowing he's a shell of his former self? Greg Maddux does a much better job of competing and he knows he's going to get hammered on occasion. All we hear is release point, arm angle, mumbo jumbo. He's consistently getting beat by stiffs like Willie Bloomquist now. He'd be a tremendous fifth starter, but that's not what we pay him for. Anyway Pavano deserves nothing but scorn until he proves worthy of anything else.
Andy, what nature of the beast are you talking about?
We're talking about the Yankees, not Livan Hernandez or Pedro Martinez or Derek Lowe.
The Yankees seem to have a knack for getting the Beast more often than the Beauty.
ok yankee fans,
get ready for the nasty tiger pitchers!!! These young arms are amazing to watch and they even added today by calling up their new pitching phenom Mr Andrew Miller.
This kid is like Randy Johnson in his great years maybe even better. His left handed and can throw a nasty slider with tremendous control and velocity. Its exciting to watch new talents compare to these old horses the yankees overpay
go tigers!!!!
Aaron, it's easy to say "get rid of them" but those guys are signed to big contracts.
It will be hard to unload them onto another team.
Lesson: make sure next time you know what you are getting before signing or trading for another player.
Hey Bob, did you forget that we already saw the Yanks give those Detroit young'uns a deserved whuppin earlier in the year, when the 'old horses' took three of four in Detroit?
