As I was getting my laptop checked by security entering Fenway Park a little while ago, the two guards were talking about how a Red Sox sweep today would push them into first place. Which basically says it all. Just like that, a hiccup by the Yankees the past few days and first place is suddenly on the line. At Fenway Park, no less.
So here we go, a five-game, four-day series against the hated Red Sox in Boston.
I flew in to Boston last night. JFK was amazingly empty at 9 p.m. last night. Staying in Cambridge, and took the "T" to Fenway around 8 this morning. Have to say, I get weird enjoyment out of taking public transportation in the a.m. on the road along with regular commuters. Makes me feel like an investment banker or something.
So where are you following today's games? Are you at work watching on your computer? Or did you take the day off? Get set. It's going to be a long, fun and most definitely interesting day -- and weekend. Stay tuned for more updates.

I got the day off as soon as the Yankee schedule came out. This will be a cataclysmic series, that will give momentum to whoever wins at least 3 games. The loser will spiral down into the wild card race. I also have Sept 15 off. These 2 clashes will show once again, that this is the greatest rivalry in all sports.
Sadly I used all my vacation days when my son was born in June (That didn't come out right did it? LOL).
So I will be banging on the refresh button all day!
Go Yanks! This is going to be huge...
A Red Sox-fan friend of mine emailed me this...
Anyone notice the pitching math-up for Game one...Wang V. Johnson...
Who's throwing game two? Schlong V. Member? Oh good times...
Watching over the internet (via mlb.com Gameday), wishing I could at least be home (NC) and watching this afternoon's game on ESPN...
It's Frustrating that Yankees have to wait for two months for trading deadline for Bobby Abreu and Lidle trade. The Yankees did not panic or cry when Matsui and Sheff are both with injuries.Yankees waited for two months, before the trading deadline. The contributions of role players of Melky and Andy Phillips, yet they still competed with heart and desire to win to be uptop in Al East. When Redsox got injuries with Nixon and Varitek, They did Panic and Beg Other teams to Help them . Redsox called Orioles and Blujays to help them and acquired Hinske and Lopez for free. Do you think that's fair? Yankees waited for two months while Redsox panic and called teams to give up their own players to help them to beat the Yankees. Where is the Redsox Farm System? How come they can't called up young players to help them instead Redsox beg in their knees ask for help.
What's not fair about it? The Yanks could have done that, they just chose not to. What's the big deal here?
You are crying over nothing Jason
I try to follow the games on the internet. I commute in the morning to my university, where I teach mass communication, globalization and other courses ... baseball is a good way to relax from the stress.
It looks like the Yanks are going to be in the running this year. Maybe Yanks vs. Mets in the World Series like in 2000. I was based in the UK in that year and watched those World Series games at 3 a.m. in the morning.
I hope it happens again -- meaning Mets and Yanks in the World Series. It would be truly special.
But not as special as when the NHL New Jersey Devils won the Stanley Cup. This was the first time people in New Jersey could shout "We're number one!" and they weren't talking about toxic waste.
