Taint That a Shame

If what has been reported about Jason Grimsley’s use of performance-enhancing drugs is accurate – and there’s no reason to think it’s not – then that means two members of the Yankees’ 1996-2000 dynasty were at some point in their careers juicers. Two that we know of.
Now, Jose Canseco spent so little time with the Yankees at the end of the 2000 season that he hardly qualifies. But Grimsley was an important part of the 1999 and 2000 bullpens, winning 10 games combined and pitching nearly 175 innings.
The questions I have aren’t about those two, but about who else was using then. I’m not going to speculate on any particular players – and I ask you to avoid that temptation if you choose to respond to this blog – but we are free to think anything we want about any player we want.
When all is said and done, do you think Canseco and Grimsley will be the only 1996-2000 Yankees linked to the steroid scandal? As a Yankees fan, would you even want to know if other Yankees from those teams used steroids?

I dont want to know but then again I do want to know...as long as they arent on the yankees right now. Furthermore, I might get hate for this but I wouldnt be surprised if Roger Clemens was one of the names on the affadavit for someone who grimsley knows used HGH.

I don't care! I don't care about HGH. I don't care about Barry Bonds, but what I do care about is the Federal government spending money to entrap a baseball player.

Why aren't they investigating terrorist or watching our ports. No they are trying to get Barry Bonds to admit he used steriods.

I thing we should have an investigation into Gaylord Perry to see if he had anail file in his pocket or vasoline in his hair? Did Whitey Ford have Elston Howard sharpen is knee guards to scuff the ball?

HGH was legal when these guys started. You all need to go back and read Jim Boutons book and remember how guys took all sorts of illegal drugs, drank coffee, and ate sugar.

It is all in an effort to make it in the big show and make a living.

Well maybe Jim Leyritz's walk on the "Green Mile" explains his home run that changed the 1996 World Series againt the Braves !

Adam, you may have heard it by now, but the issue with Bonds is that they suspect that he lied to the grand jury - not a good thing. His body, his stats and his connections would lead anyone to suspect that he has used steroids. The feds think he lied so they are going after him. They don't particlarly care that he used steroids; like you suggest, that is relatively low on the totem pole. Lying to grand jury is not.

What do I want to come from the Jason Grimsley investigation? This is a very tough question with no correct answers. All baseball fans who love the game know there were steroids in use in the 80's on up to the present time. Now HGH is the next enhancement drug to be targeted. What I want is an accurate test for HGH and the game to be played on a drug free playing field. I will not accept Barry Bond's in the same class as Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Frank Robinson, etc. The Feds finding a weak-link with Grimsley is Ok. I hope that he can be exploited if it cleans up the game. I would be very disturbed if Jeter was implicated with enhancement drugs. I believe all baseball fans those who love him and hate him would be crushed. He is a respected player. They booed loudly when the Mickey Mantle walked to the plate. This meant respect for the player. Ortiz is booed but the Yankee fans wouldn't mind having him take a few swings for them in a tight situation.

This is very interesting site
