Derek Jeter was hit in the right hand by a Rodrigo Lopez pitch in the sixth inning Sunday and left the game. X-rays were negative and Jeter is day-to-day with a bruised thumb. Jeter missed two games earlier this week with a strained tendon in the same hand.
After the game, we’ll ask Jeter how he feels and if he’ll be able to play Monday against the Red Sox. I predict he will say, “I’m all right. It’s no big deal.” Check back later.
UPDATE: Jeter did say "it's all right'' and "It's no big deal'' and said he plans to play Monday.

I was watching Sunday's game as I always do. What would my next moves be if I was Joe Torre? Some we agree upon. Others he has more inside info then I do. I prefer him (JT) to be correct as opposed to me. Yesterday's game was a good example. Small starting and leaving him in there to save the bullpen for the Red Sox. We took the series and 2 out of 3 is fine. What did I learn from the game and previous games? Small doesn't have it and should be used only to soak up innings when necessary and T. Long should be the roster move when Bubba comes back. Long's bat is lacking. Melky's a keeper. Phillips playing well with the opportunity. Brian Cashman needs to fine pitching or bring up some farm hands. I would like to see more auditioning of pitchers then searching for infielders and outfielders. Use roster changes to accomplish this pitching search.
wish he was hit in the face instead, where he deserves it cuz he's a cocky ass bastard with no class!
