Meet Kat O'Brien

Kat O'Brien has been covering the Yankees for Newsday since 2007. She has been on the baseball beat since 2003, and most recently covered the Texas Rangers for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Kat, an Iowa native, owns a bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame.

What is this crap? I had a sales call from Newsday sales department regarding if i wanted a subscription to Newsday. I told them that the paper was only good for lining my bird cage. Now i think this site is going right down the drain too. The only reason i would go to their website is for this blog. Now that's in question. Here's my take on Mike Lupica's article today in The Daily News. It was all about selling papers. If you read the article it had no substance only conjecture on the part of Mike "the angry dwarf" Lupica. He should get back to bashing President Bush. He's also been very inaccurate with those articles too. Man has that guy lost it. But that's a story for another day.

Take care

Ms. O'Brien,

I am a third generation Yankees fan in South Florida....both my grandfather and father were Yankees fans in Cuba & NYC during the 30's & 40's!

I truly enjoy your excellent blog, thanks for the great work.

I posted some comments on you recent entry regarding, in my humble opinion, the insanity of of giving up Hughes and Cabrera for Santana.........it makes no sense, whatsoever!

Both Smith and Epstein are playing us.......did Cash sign off on this or was he over-ruled, as was suggested????????

Best Regards,

Carlos Echevarria

I understand people getting upset with Hughes, Cabrera for Santana, but the truth is that the Yankee rotation is weak. Even with Chamberlain as a possible star, he has not proven himself yet, especially since he has not pitched a full season. With Santana, you get a #1 pitcher to strenghten the rotation with leadership experience for the younger guys. I do feel that if Boston lands Santana, they will win another world series. With Santana and Becket, they will have the best staff in the American league. How many Yankee fans want to watch Boston win "another"? I certainly don't.

Hey

I love your blog. My friend and I just started up a new Yankee Blog and I was wondering if you could check it out and give us a little bit of feedback.

heres the link

The Chuck Knoblog

The problem that we are having is we don't know how to attract people to come to our blog. Your blog has a lot of views and we were wondering if you could tell us how to get more hits. It would be really cool if you could also add us to your blog roll and of course we will add you.

Please Email Me Back

Thanks so Much

Charlie

Two comments/ideas: First regarding Santana ... at first I thought the trade would be a bad one, two quality players for one star. I'd rather have two guys who can help the team win than one All Star. Remember how good Mel Stottlemyre was? Did that team ever win anything?

Second, why haven't the Yankees approached Sean Casey?!

We are starting a petition to have a George Steinbrenner Day at the stadium and a plaque put in Monument Park. We think it would be great to be able to show GMS our appreciation while he's still around.

If you would put up a post about it along with the link to the petition we would appreciate it!

Hey Kat,
Heading down to FL this week. What is the best time of day to see full workouts?

Same question as "phil": When is the best time to see full workouts of the Yanks in spring training this month?

Kate,

what is the best way to contact the yanks about an interview request for my site, www.latinosinmlb.com?

Kat,

How are the big three ( Joba, Phil and Kennedy) being treated by the veterans on the team? Do they have any nicknames the other players bestowed on them?

Thanks

Chris

Kat, your predictions are weird.

Went to see the boys at Camden Yards last night. They look listless. At least with the Johnson kid, we know they never hit pitchers they've never seen, but Kennedy got rocked and there's no explanation for the rest of it. I'm getting tired of seeing Cano make lazy approaches and two out errors on routine ground balls any high school player could make. Didn't Bowa chew him out about that last year? Also, could someone please tell Melky to pull up his pants? One of these days he's gonna get his spikes caught in them and trip rounding a base or chasing a fly. Besides, it looks sloppy and reminds me of Michael Kay's ill-advised "idiot" line about the Red Sox. Bet he regrets that one.

What is a beautiful Irish woman like you doing covering the Yankees? You should be up here in Boston where you would find 5.5m loyal readers!

Can you ask sometime why the yankees refuse to give Britton any time? If there is something going on why not trade him? I feel very bad for him. First Torre and now Girardi.Thanks.

Kat,

By the way, you're attractive. Anyway, I think Yankee Fans; most notably J. Sterling need to start paying some due respect to the other teams in the AL East. On 2 separate occasions he's said over-the-air that the Yankees have to pay attention to what Boston is doing. His lack of knowledge obviously shows that he really doesn't know too much about the other teams (O's, Blue Jay's, TB) in the Division, who've made great strides in Pitching. Ironic, that Yankee bats falter when they go up against quality pitching!
