The Bill Buckner love fest
Bill Buckner decided to forgive Bostonians -- fans and media -- and return to Fenway Park on Tuesday.
Fans cheered as Buckner was announced and threw out the first pitch.
It appears, from these two facts, that Boston has gone soft. They're like a bunch of incumbents in the House of Representatives now, just expecting to win their next election because everyone just votes for who they voted for last time
This is what happens when a team wins two championships in four seasons. What's next, clapping for Derek Jeter when he comes to the plate? Standing and cheering when Mariano has two strikes on Pedroia with two outs in the ninth?
Get your edge back, Boston. Man up!
Watch the video below, shot by a fan who likely hated Buckner until a certain October evening in 2004 and now cheers for him. We'd show the NESN clip, but at published time of this blog post, there was no embeddable video that actually had sound, too. Clearly their editor was too busy clapping for Buckner.
