Wagner could be done for season
Billy Wagner walked off the mound in disgust a few minutes ago after he was forced to cut short his first session against hitters since Aug. 16 in Pittsburgh.
In between games of today's split doubleheader, Wagner was pitching to Gustavo Molina when he bounced a slider off his foot. Soon after releasing the pitch, Wagner said, "That's it. I can't do it anymore."
With Wagner in the trainer's room, general manager Omar Minaya spoke to reporters and painted a grim picture of his closer's status. Wagner will see a team physician tomorrow and this setback could be the final straw with him feeling discomfort in his elbow again.
"We're going to be conservative," Minaya said.
Wagner did not speak to reporters.

Fire a GM of a first place team? You sir, are a moron.
If this doesn't convince the Mets management to go after K-Rod hard during the post season, I don't know what will.
