Maine says he's ready to go

John Maine just pronounced himself ready to go (on Wednesday at the earliest) after throwing 25 pitches on the mound at Shea.

The Mets haven't sounded that excited about Maine's return. We'll see.

Update, 4:40 p.m.: Jerry Manuel said he's more optmistic about Maine and might use him for an inning, not tonight or tomorrow though..

Manuel also said he will not use Santana or Perez on short rest this weekend. Niese or someone else will start Saturday. Risky.

Lineup vs. the Cubs' Jason Marquis.

Reyes 2B
Murphy LF
Wright 3B
Delgado 1B
Beltran CF
Church RF
Castillo 2B
Schneider C
Niese P

Did you see his session? What kind of velocity did he have?

What ARE they excited about, then? Who in that flippin bullpen do they think is going to do any better?

If they need a win next weekend, Absolutely they need their best out there! Santana AND Perez can split the game if necessary but they need to look at getting that win! Jerry just is NOT the man to lead them next year! I still think Keith Hernandez might be a better choice!

Stick him in the Bull Pen! He can't do no worse and they can limit his pitches.

Keith Hernandez for MANAGER!!

I'd rather see FIRE and BRIMSTONE from a manager than the lolla losers this team hires!!
