Is Citi Field open yet? I'm hungry

We interrupt this Mets resurgence for the best news to come out of Citi Field since, well, they decided to rip down Shea. The team announced this morning that the new building will have concession stands modeled after Shake Shack and Blue Smoke, two Danny Meyer establishments that I have frequented here in Manhattan.shack.jpg

No bother to check Zagat. I'll give you my quickie review right now: Damn good.

The downside is that it's probably going to cost $18 for a Shackburger and about $22 for ribs from Blue Smoke, but let's wait and see what the price tag will be. With these two additions, Citi Field should rival some of the best new ballparks in terms of food options. No word yet if Mama's will be making the move to Citi Field, but there still should be room for the Shea landmark. It's been a safe haven for hungry sportswriters for years.

OK, back to baseball. Well, well, well. Look who's only 1 1/2 games out of first place. Mike Pelfrey outpitching Tim Lincecum? What kind of bizarro world are we living in? At this point, we can safely say that Pelfrey is for real.

Ken Davidoff takes a closer look at Church's murky situation, which is going to force the Mets to be active before the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline. They have to do more than merely keep their fingers crossed with Church and Moises Alou. The Mets need another outfielder. It now appears that Alou could be back by Friday, but the bigger question is -- how long will he stay this time?

Xavier Nady anyone? Omar? GET IT DONE!!

Sure. Who do you want to trade for him? Fernando Martinez? Jon Niese? Eddie Kunz? Those are the names that teams like the Pirates are starting with.

That burger is making me hungry

If its anything like the Madison Square Park venue, the game will be over before you make it half way through the Shake Shack line.
