St. Louis Blues

olllie.jpgJust a hunch, but I'm betting the guy in the Wright No. 5 jersey and his girlfriend in the Martinez No. 45 jersey waiting in line at Cosi here at LaGuardia are on my flight to St. Louis this morning. Speaking of LGA, I was in two monstrous lines a few minutes ago, as it appears that all of the scary tales about air travel have done nothing to dissuade people from jetting away for this Fourth of July week. If you're doing the same today and haven't left yet, leave now.

As for the weekend wrap-up, I guess the Mets will take a split. But with the pitching matchups, I can't help but feel they should have taken three. The Mets still won the season series, 4-2, but Jerry Manuel couldn't help himself in anointing his crew as the No. 2 team in New York. C'mon Jerry. Give your guys some credit. Drop that second city mentality and start talking some trash. Tough to argue with him, though. The Mets trail the Yankees in rings, 26-2.

Looking ahead to tomorrow, it appears the Mets are calling up Tony Armas for the spot start. He's 5-7 with a 2.54 ERA at Triple-A New Orleans and pitched only two innings on Saturday in what was presumably a tune-up for tomorrow against the Cardinals.
