How come the Wilpons are building an elitist, 39,000-seat (the 45,000 includes untouchable suites, VIP seats, restauraunt seats, and standing room) for a team that claims to be the People's Team? And why are they promoting the legacy of a team that spat on NYC---the Brooklyn Dodgers? Isn't it time the Mets had their own identity? How can you have so few seats in NYC, where baseball is revered, despite the horror of the Mets from June 1, 2007, to the present day? Also, I agree-why are the Mets giving Peterson a pass? Maine had another 30 pitches in him last night...
Nice to see you have come to the dark side David.....O told you since GAME ONE it was not Willies fault. Omar has put together THE WORST TEAM money can buy.
Any questions boys and girls? I have been telling you since game one. This team is horrible.
No staff. No bullpen. No bench. No heart. No clutch players. Oldest Team in MLB. Highest paid team in NL. No Chemistry.
Yes, Willy will be fired and take the blame. Yet he did not construct this mess. OMAR did.
Did he draft our two brightest bulbs in Wright and Reyes ??? NO NO NO NO NO
Did he bring in Delgado and over pay Beltran who did not want to come here....YES YES YES YES
Schneider a good move ?? The teams era is up from last year. More passed balls. More sb's against (I think) Not to mention he hits like a 80 yr old woman. Church showed glimpses yet is always hurt.
See who we gave up for Delgado by the way??? The man has 15 HR's in case you were wondering.
FIRE OMAR TODAY....Let the new GM bring in his coach. If you just fire Willy, who will come in ?? An interm ??? Oh boy !!!
Most unlikeable team in many many years...OMAR'S CREATION !!
Isn't obvious the Mets just don't have the organization they thought the had. Please don't try to lay it on Willie. he just manages what he got and baby he don't got the horses.Where was the Wilpons when the team was being put together paticul arly after "o7 disaster,Castillo. Heilman, Alou, Tatis, Evans,Castro, Schneider,Delgado.EaselySanchez ,Oliver Put them in a package and they mught have a hard time in AAA ball.Compared to the other crappy teams ahead of them including the Marlins which would they rather own. They may have to change the new stadium name to Hopeless Field, Sorry Citi Bank you are stuck along with all Met fans. Speak to us Mr Fred. You owe it to us, remember.
All I can say is that it's very sad !!
Who's going to blow it tonight, that should be the motto !
No lead is enough,
No clutch hitting (I'm amazed at how many men are left on base)
Pitching - seems like they can't get through a game where someone doesn't give it away.
And the few times the pitching holds up (like the 3, 2-1 games in
San Diego) I sit in terror waiting for someone to blow it.
Those games, it was the bats.
It really makes me sick, I don't even want to watch them anymore.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but that is how I feel.
I've been a life time Met fan, I stuck with them during all of their terrible years, but the last year, hurts more than any other time as a Met fan. I don't know why, maybe I believed they were better than they are.
What's worse is that they don't even have any bright outlooks in the minors, which means that this is what we'll be getting for a long time to come.
SAD !!!
This team is a disgrace! A bunch of oldtime pampered ballplayers. When you have a collapse like you did last year you CAN'T bring back the usual suspects. This group quit last year, Omar needed to make wholesale changes. His affinity for latin players is his achilles heal. No offense to latin players, but you can't make it a pre-requisite to be on the team. I know the Omar supporters will say, "what about Church and Scheinder"? That deal would've never happened if Torrealba would've been healthy during his physical. It's time for the Wilpons to change the GM and the Manager. Why wait till next year. Let the new GM choose his Manager.
Let's look at Minaya's deals: Santana ( a decent move, yet he gave up a lot of the minor league prospects and our future for a guy who pitches every 5 days). Delgado (Need I say more), Castillo (The worst deal yet. A guy who's injury history is well documented, plus he's OLD. Doesn't take a genius to steer clear of this deal. Oh yeah he signed him for 4YEARS!). Ryan Church and Brian Schneider (Only because Torrealba wasn't healthy. Church overachieved, then got hurt. Schneider hits worst than the majority of our pitching staff). Beltran (A Franchise player? Do you think? Need I say More? How many balls is he going to pound into the ground at the second baseman?). Alou (No Comment!). Anderson (Old and useless!). Perez (Volatile at best). Maine (Everyone gets lucky now and then!) Vasquez and Figeroua (2 flashes in the pan).
Tatis (Old and no longer on the juice).
By the way, Thanks to the Wilpons for making a game for the average family out of reach. Good luck selling tickets with this group of Old Overpaid Oft-injured Lackluster Heartless and Self Serving Wantabe Major Leaguers. Oh, on a side note, I just wanted to comment on our pitching Guru Rick Peterson. He's done an outstanding job! Scott Kasmir would've never had Major League stuff, It appears Victor Zambrano was a GREAT head to head swap and let's not forget what he's done with the rest of our staff. Let's give him a raise!
