Mike Gavin here for another night of Mets baseball. The Mets have been welcomed back to Shea by the lovely combination of wind and rain as they prepare to take on the Cincinnati Reds. After picking up the loss in his last two outtings, Mike Pelfrey looks to regain the form he showed in his first two starts of the season. First pitch is just minutes away unless mother nature forces a change in plans...
7:30 -- Where is a retractable roof when you need one? The game is being delayed due to rain. Hopefully they can get this one in.
8:05 -- Mother nature can be so cruel at times. Tonight's game has been canceled, there will be a doubleheader tomorrow. Gotta feel bad for those that drove to the stadium at $4 a gallon and paid $30 to park only to get soaked, but thats baseball for you.

What a disgraceful performance by Met management yesterday..in this day and age we can all read the same weather blurbs and look at the same radar as they can....all day the forecast was for rain to continue up till midnight.....the radar was a solid blend of green and yellow covering the entire metropolitan area...there was never any window in there...yet they opened the park...made people pay to park and whatever when there was never a chance of playing a game (not to mention what kind of weather would there have been if there had been a window????).
I don't want to hear any of this well this is the way it is now....there, at some time, has to be some consideration for the fans. That game should have been called at 3 PM; there was never a chance to play it according to the radar and the weather bureau.
Shame on you Fred and Jeff and Omar.
Willie, can't help himself, as soon as something goes well he must change it. The lineup with Church batting sencond was highly productive and winning, it also saw Delgado start to come alive SO, what is Willie's answer to that? Immediately change it and now bat Delgado 7th and Church 5th. WHY? Great idea to play with Delgado's head just as he finally comes alive, the guy is a soft spoken inner driven person, who could use some confidence reassurances. SO, Willie's answer is to bat him 7th a place he hasn't been as low as in 12 years! Willie is simply a moron. When do the Mets show him the door. Since the season begun he has experimented with the lineup and never stuck with any success. This team needs a regular lineup and it needs consistent leadership, this season of all 3 finds Willie all over the board. He has never been this inconsistent and it is obvious that he is managing from fear. The players can smell it and see it and son it wears off on them. He has lost the ability to lead this team, it is now only a matter of time before he and Peterson have to go!
im the same ways with my brother. When i see something on any tv show or website talking smack about the mets. David a little slow with the blogs ...... mets website already says it has a double header today ...... Im a huge RANGERS FAN and Steve ZIpay is the best blogger on newsday .... i wish Tom Rock was still with the jets ... but still Dave step your game up .... i love the mets even more than the rangers and i look on zipays blog like 5 times a day ..... where the blogs at ??????? keep up the good work but us mets fans need more blogs ... thanks
I agree with msg4ever...why move Church out of the two spot? I thought the idea was to have men on base when the big boys come to the plate.
