Pregame medical report

General manager Omar Minaya provided a quick rundown of the Mets' injury situation and none of it looks very promising.

-- Pedro Martinez is doing practically zero in Port St. Lucie other than resting his strained left hamstring. While the Mets initially said on April 2 that Martinez would not be pitching again for four to six weeks, Minaya wanted to clarify that by saying it could be that long before is even throwing. It's hardly surprising that the Mets keep playing with Martinez's return date, but there's no sense putting a timetable on him until he is actually on a mound again.

-- Orlando Hernandez, still fitted in his walking boot, is not even allowed to drive, never mind pitch. He's another week away from being re-evaluated, so he's well off the radar screen.

-- Matt Wise (forearm contusion) is not expected to come off the DL when he is eligible on Thursday because Minaya believes he may need a rehab game or two.

-- Moises Alou, who is hitting and shagging fly balls in Port St. Lucie, may be playing in rehab games by the weekend. Minaya said a return by the end of April is possible.

-- Ramon Castro (hamstring) has not started running full speed yet, but Minaya was hopeful he could start playing in games by this weekend, too.
