Pedro great; Delgado, Castro hurt

Even as the Mets got Pedro Martinez back on Sunday, their injury curse continued.
First baseman Carlos Delgado and backup catcher Ramon Castro were both injured and had to leave Martinez’s spring debut against the Tigers at Tradition Field.
Delgado’s injury was scary; Castro’s may be more long-lasting.
Delgado was hit in the right forearm by a bat shard from teammate Brady Clark while leading off third base in the third inning. Delgado’s arm was bloodied and he immediately went into the Mets’ dugout and to the clubhouse. He was replaced by Marlon Anderson in the field.
Castro, catching his first game since last Sunday, re-injured his right hamstring when running to first in his first at-bat. He left the game and was replaced by Gustavo Molina.
There was no immediate word on the extent of the injuries. The Mets are already without their No. 1 catcher, Brian Schneider, who also has a hamstring injury. Schneider said Sunday he planned to play again on Wednesday. Opening Day is March 31.
Martinez was outstanding in his first exhibition outing of the spring. He threw four shutout innings, allowing four hits and one walk with four strikeouts. His fastball was clocked as high as 91 miles per hour.

MLB.com reports that Castro felt a twinge in the hamstring and was removed as a precaution. That doesn't sound as serious as re-injuring the hammie, just outpointing...

I was at Saturday and Sunday games this weekend, they were awesome. I don't understand why Delgado went back to third on contact. If he would have went towards home on contact he probably would not have gotten hit with the bat.
