Finally, El Duque throws!
Quite a scene here this morning at the 5-pack. Hernandez is finally testing his lower leg kick and there's a lot of interested people in the Mets hierarchy. COO Jeff Wilpon is watching, along with Willie Randolph, Rick Peterson and Guy Conti. Not sure what to make of this yet. To me, it still looks like he's in the experimental phase and he doesn't look totally comfortable. There's no guarantee El Duque can be just as effective this way.

Exactly, time to look at existing options. Lohse can be had for a 1 yr deal, possible for 5-6m. That's a decent insurance policy. He has a chance to win, and pitch in the NL and a pitcher's park to better his odds of a payday next offseason. At the moment I think Omar has Freddie Gracia in mind, but is an oldster coming off an injury the right signing for this team? The Duke is done.
But *if* Pelfrey continues to have a good spring, what role would Lohse serve?
