It's on

Carlos Beltran didn't back down today from his declaration that the Mets are the "team to beat" and laughed about being referred to as a "plagiarist" by Jimmy Rollins yesterday in Clearwater. In fact, Beltran likes Rollins -- the two talk when he's on the basepaths -- but he stands firm on his prediction about winning the NL East.

"I have nothing against Jimmy," Beltran said. "He plays hard, he does his job, he's always hustling. Philly found a way to play better at the end and they won the division. But this year is going to be different."

The Mets found it humorous that one Phillie suggested the two teams would brawl when they face each other, which just happens to be the Shea opener on April 8. But if that's the case, bring it on. You'll have to wait a little longer for those quotes. Stay tuned.
