Mets re-sign Sanchez, eight others

sanchez.jpgIn what is mostly an administrative move, the Mets announced today that they have re-signed Duaner Sanchez to a one-year, $850,000 contract, as well as eight others to minor-league deals. Most notable of that second group is righthander Juan Padilla, who missed all of last season after surgery to repair a torn flexor tendon. Sanchez is trying to rebound from a couple of medical procedures that have kept him on the shelf since July of 2005, and most recently a fractured bone in his right shoulder suffered during spring training last year.

Duaner was 5-1 with a 2.60 ERA in 49 games in 2006 before being placed on the 15-Day Disabled List on July 31st with a separated right shoulder. The 6-2, 210-pounder underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder on August 1, 2006. Dr. Altchek performed the procedure.

He was placed on 60-Day DL on March 26, 2006 and did not pitch after undergoing surgery on his right elbow. Juan was 3-1 with a 1.49 ERA in 24 contests in 2005 with New York.

Diaz was acquired by the Mets from the Los Angeles Dodgers on July 13, 2003. He pitched with St. Lucie (A) of the Florida State League the remainder of that season and with Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League until he traded to Tampa Bay on July 30, 2004.

The 6-0, 225-pounder began his career with the Dodgers as a catcher before being converted into a pitcher in 2002.

Need a Spanish dictionary to read all the names. What else is new? Aren't the Mets embarrassed by this?

Larry, the embarrassment is limited to you.

Marty,
you shut the F up, he will say all he wants about the overabundance of espanols in the system. its far passed the quota, i dont feel like hearing the GD anthem in spanish.

Castro whats wrong with you? Nobody should be embarrassed.

This is getting tiring.....Let go of the hispanic things.. More then 90% of baseball is hispanic, so what is wrong with that? during the early days of baseball it was all white then Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier and baseball has been changing since. Teams are constructed like a puzzle, if the pieces fit then you stay with that. Who cares what nationality your team is made up of. Just right now most of the players on the Mets are of hispanics. Didn`t seem to be a problem with anyone when the Mets almost made it to the World Series in 2006, but since then, when the team started to fall off the map starting in June last season, all of a sudden the nationality of the Mets were an issue. In all sports, all fans want a one way street, but try to make it a two way is impossible. Oh by the way all of you Hispanic bashing fans, I don`t see you all yelling about the fact how much you think Minaya needs to do something and Trade for Santana from the Twins. Guess what nationality Santana is??? Too many hypocrits and not enough real fans......

Yeah u tell them efnorlando! Hispanics rule

I could care less if they are purple. The problem is they all stink. We have NO ACE, NO BULLPEN....

FIRE OMAR, FIRE RANDOLPH, SELL THE TEAM!

Seems like Johan to the Mets is getting closer...
